I've noticed a few people have wanted to buy vintage cabs with these speakers in them, so I contacted a friend to see if he would sell one of his cabs (late 70s, early 80s) loaded with them. He let me gig with one of his 1960A cabs, as he wants to hang on to his B cabs. Oh my god those are the best speakers I've ever heard..and I've heard pre rola's before in person..wow. Now I see what all of you already know..they are amazing. Of course he doesn't know if he will sell. Dammit! I picked up a 2551AV to go with my Jubilee and it sounds great as well, but...I MUST HAVE A G12 65 CAB! The one I tried had the Marshall labeled Celestions...anyway now I'm also GASsing for one..

Yep, one of my favorite Celestion speakers. If he doesn't sell just buy some and put them into another cab. They'll sound different than speakers that have taken a beating for 40 years but will still sound great, particularly once you break them in. You might even like them better.

The WGS ET65S and Liberators are an affordable darned close second to those 65's.

I saw your youtube vid..nice playing btw..they sound good there but in person..goes to show you can't trust youtube to give a true test. I thought based on that and other videos that it was a really dark speaker. Well it might be darker than others but it's not DARK..it's got a fat mid, good lows and still a sparkle but less than a greenie..I'm also a fan of the Marshall Vintages and older British V30s, and to me the 65 is still fat like those but at a low mid range instead of the upper mid V30. Nice.

Might have to...I've got a 425B cab that I might have to part the speakers out lol...

Never tried a celestion g1265, but I can recommend a WGS et65, great speakers. I run a pair with my silver jubilee.

I have an old, beat to shit, 4x12 with 65's. They sound really good but the Warehouse ET65's also sound good but I've never had them side-by-side.

I run ET65's. They are balanced. A Vintage 30 type sounds like you cranked the presence; very sibilant in comparison.. like shite.

Some of my favorite speakers particularly with bright amps.

Same here, have a 4x12 loaded with the WGS ET65's and it sounds HUGE! I run it with a '79 JMP and they just work great together. Big and rich, with vintage-like mids and a clear top end but not shrill. And they hold together awesome under high volume and gain since they are higher wattage.

I like the price. How would you compare the ET65 to the Celestion G12-65 and the Scumback M75 (65)? Any thoughts on how these would sound with a Shiva? I ask since the Shiva isn't as bright as most Marshalls.

I had those in my Marshall 20th anniv cab.. didn't realize until after I sold it that those were kind of unique sounding.
Great speakers.

The WGS ET65 IS the WGS take on the Celestion. If you want even more power handling and overhead the Liberators are an awesome choice as well, somewhat analogous to the Creambacks. Now that I've tried WGS speakers and have seen the quality and heard the tone, they're my new go-to.

I have a quad in my Bogner cab. Awesome speakers. Though they can sound a bit muddy at low volumes. Get them cranking and they are fantastic. Very musical and piano-like.

What amp are you using them with?

Well, this is interesting from my perspective. It's from Richiedie who I think also posts here. Found it on mylespaul.com.

WGS speakers are amazing! A friend of mine did a test with 4 other guitarists. They had two identical Landry 412s. One with ET65s and one with Heritage G1265s, both well broken in. Every guitarist preferred the ET65s. Now, I actually like the Vet30 mixed with the ET65s. I think it provides a more 3-D tone with more color if that makes sense.
I have this pair in my Bogner OS 212 cab. I use two amps through it, 20th Anniversary Bogner Shiva with EL34s and a 1998 VHT ST/50 with EL34s.

My other cabinet is a THD 212 ported cab with the old original Celestion CL-80s modified to Lonhorn specs. I think I might upgrade these to WGS speakers as well or get the newer THD Longhorn/Vintage speakers which are made by Eminence and great speakers as well!

My Marshall 412 will get the WGS Green Berets.

I'm thinking I could go with an ET65 and a Veteran 30 and be good to go. Will have to figure out what I like miced better but I do that anyway since I have a V30/H30 in my OS 2x12 now.

LOL... Spoke too soon. He then says in a later post:

I used them for a while along with the Vet30. Stick with the real thing. My Mesa, Bogner and PWE all sound worlds better with the real deal, Celestions. Much better tone, character and depth. I also tried Scumbacks and was not impressed.

I've had my G12-65 loaded JCM800 1960B for roughly 8 years. Many other cabs have come and gone during that time, as none of them could hold a candle to this one. I'm currently running it in stereo with a front loaded Diezel v30 4x12. They make a MASSIVE combination.

I'm happy to report that my bud is selling me one of his 1980 1960A cabs for 400..today is a good day. I've got a 79 JMP 2204 coming that will match up perfectly with those 65s..if any of you are interested in my 425B cab let me know..

Nice price. I bought one a while back that wasn't in great shape, which I subsequently ended up selling but paid about $100-$150 more than that.
