I’m like a semi noob I guess.
I had a Yamaha 18 track daw for many years that I knew inside and out, but then a crackhead neighbor stole it from me, presumably to buy more crack, and I never got back in to it.

So I’m pretty familiar with the recording process, I’ve just never done it on a computer. I’m most likely psyching myself out because the jump probably won’t be all that big of deal

I do want something that I can program or add drums with though
I think logic is a well laid out program and powerful, not expensive. Weren’t you thinking about a mac at one point? Even a cheap used older one will run it fine unless you’re thinking about tons of tracks and virtual instruments.

I found an old Mac in a ewaste container that works it’s just too old to run any modern programs. I was hoping to be able to update it but didn’t have any luck
I have a decent windows laptop that I bought just for Rig Manger and two notes software so I’m confident it can handle some basic recording. I probably have a TB external hard drive kicking around somewhere too

How old is the mac? Logic has been around since the early 2k's and it has been good since then too. I'm sure a lot of these newer company's have stuff that works fine, and maybe thats the route, but I think it's better to dedicate time learning programs that are established, like Logic, Cubase, Pro Tools.

But FL, Ableton, reaper, presonus people seem to like. Just pick one that does midi programing and fits your budget. They all basically do the same thing ultimately.

Not really sure. I couldn’t get any emails to work, most websites wouldn’t loud, thumb drives weren’t formatted correctly. I mean I did find it in the garbage so there is probably a reason for that lol
I also haven’t used an apple computer since 2001

Macs are for drag queens and homosexual dudes.

Bro, get a desktop PC.

They're so cheap right now, it's ridiculous.

I have Friday and Saturday off this week so I’ll try and make a decision by then. I’ll at least have some time to get my bearings straight Friday while the kiddos are at school.
I won’t need an interface because I can use the kemper

I think my laptop will be ok. If I don’t use it for guitar stuff I really have no other use for it

actually I like a good tremolo though. I went through a heavy spaghetti western phase during lockdown

Real men plug straight into an amp and turn it up to 11.

I think I’m gonna try the free waveform and see how I like it
