Saw this coming 5 years ago when the (M)esaboogie (A)nd (G)ibson (A)ggregrate was first hinted at when some idiot with a red hat had an abbreviated version printed on it. I wonder who artfully brokered that deal.

Wondering when this will be confirmed or debunked.

And what will Ian Saint Ian do, will it no longer be "If you don't play a gibson through a marshall, you're a wanker?" and now its if you don't play a Gibson through a Mesa?

someone smokes crack ...

Well since ive owned many Gibson & Boogies and never bought brand new not really going to affect me but it may affect Boogies when Gibson starts making them at the Epiphone factory in China.
My guess is Gibson has done such a great job bankrupting themselves that if they do buy Mesa they will bankrupt that too.

I don't get how a bankrupt company pulls this out? Sick of these collaps...Like Disney buying ESPN, and many others and ruining them.

Funny how a company in Bankruptcy buys a new company.
How da Fuck does that work ?
Predict original MK series amp values beyond ridiculous prices.
Whats next a Guitar Center inside every Walmart ?

:ROFLMAO:

This really socks. A new Mesa amp with built in auto tune for all those Les Paul players?

I don't mean this the wrong way, but does anyone REALLY care? Every Mesa amplifier they produce these days is marginal at best. The last amp I got from Mesa was a JP2C and I sold it a week later. I paid $1670 for it new from a friend who got an extra as an artist and even at that price I didn't want it. As for Gibson... I wouldn't buy their junk these days.

"I'm 75 years-old and still at work every day," says Randall Smith founder of Mesa/Boogie. "This is my art and many of our crew have worked along my side for 30 to 40 years. As we witnessed JC and Cesar transform Gibson, we saw kindred spirits sharing common values and a fierce dedication to quality. Today, Gibson's guitars are the best-ever and when they asked if we'd like to become Gibson's Custom Shop for Amplifiers, we envisioned a perfect collaboration that would expand our outreach while preserving our legacy beyond my time. Gibson realizes the unique value of what we've all built together and this next chapter in the Mesa/Boogie story is a continuation of that dream. I am so fortunate for this partnership with the new Gibson after 50 years of doing what I love. It's been the ride of my life . . . and it ain't over yet!"

Mesa made by Epiphone.
And just like every Craigslist has nothing but $250 Epi style LP & SG guitars now every CL will have the same type of POS Epi amps.

"Mesa Boogie, led by Randy, has been in service to sound without compromises since the very beginning, and that's a perfect fit for us," adds Cesar Gueikian of Gibson Brands. "We are looking forward to being the best custodians of Mesa Boogie's iconic heritage that we can be, and at the same time, be a steward of its future. We are honored that Randy and the Mesa Boogie team have trusted us to lead Mesa Boogie into the future. Together, we will continue to pursue our mutual quest of sound, quality and craftsmanship and to push the boundaries of how guitar sound is delivered and experienced."

This makes some sense. The synergies between them are relatively strong, and Gibson being owned by a PE firm adds to this.

I think Yamaha would have been a much more logical buyer, though. They already have Line 6 in house, and Mesa + Line 6 would have been a very powerful partnership.

I guess Bendinelli is going to retire too maybe.

Get ready for $12,000 Gibson Custom Shop Rectifiers.

Long time player of both brands since the 70s-80s.
For us old twits this news is really no biggie.
For the younger generation it's great.

This just sucks. You know that Gibson will fuck it up, big conglomerates always do.

Will definitely be keeping my mark v, blues angle, and mavrick. Not that I was planning on letting those go.

Was hoping to get an older 2 channel dule recto when prices came back down, might just have to bite the bullet and get one.
