I think the only pickup i have ever hated by one of the good brands was the SD invader. That was in and out of my guitar fucking fast
I have one too but it is sitting in a box. But like Lisa said, there was time when there were not nearly as many pickup options as we have today.

The invader only works with very specific setups and very specific rigs IMO

If you run it straight into a recto, it definitely blink 182s

Just catching up on where the specs stand. Whoever builds this is going to hate y'all with those frets. I've seen luthiers break multiple sets of expensive fret nippers on stainless steel frets. Being so hard they're a bitch to work on.

That's where most of the extra cost comes from with stainless frets as far as I am aware.
Not the material.

I’ve never had a guitar with SS frets. I’ve never had an issue with wear on regular frets so never felt the need and like you said I’d rather have something somebody can easily work on.
They're great for the player since they basically never wear out. Not so much for the luthier. This is what a par of fret nippers will look like after servicing a stainless steel fret neck.

Love stainless frets when they're done right.
It's like ice skating vs rollerblading.
