What makes their presence any less significant today than before? I guarantee you it wasn’t democrats that were redlining the districts that eventually became those “ghettos”.

A) They have no power, no base and are unable to do any of the terrorist bullshit they did under Byrd’s ( and others) direction. They are now a very fringe segment of society that 99% of Americans do not identify with.

B) I don’t think republicans are responsible for drawing the boundaries of all the major American cities. And even if that were the case it doesn’t change the fact that the vast majority of black Americans live in districts that have been exclusively controlled by democrats, in some cases for 6 decades. Democrats have the same thing to offer black people as they do labor unions. Not a god damn thing.
 
Redlining was all about money and fear in the beginning - not politics.
majority of whites (both parties) didn't want blacks moving into their neighborhoods.

Racism and bigotry was pretty equally spread out among parties back then.

Today?
