my crate BV4x12 with them is super solid, my ibanez thermion with them is probably the best constructed cab i have.

The craigslist ads here in Omaha are one page of 50 to 100 dollar acoustics that are overpriced, and a bunch of pianos.

Orange are well built and whatnot, but I've never gotten anything I like from them under the mic. The whole skid thing is ridiculous as well. When you record a cab, you want to decouple it from the floor, not have it reresonate.

Personally, of all the cabs I've owned my 90's Orange with v30s is the best sounding of the bunch. I will say the '22 Orange 4x12 I recently aquired sounds significantly different.

My least favorite v30 cab was a recent Friedman. Maybe it's just the newer v30's I don't like?

That sucks. I snipe cheap cabs off CL all the time. There are at least 2 Marshall 4x12 up around here at any given time. I’ve bought at least 4 1960 cabs for at or below $400. Sell the 75 speakers for $50ea and have empty cabs for $200 or less per.

Friedman 4x12 and Bogner are awesome. Personally, I like the older Marshall 1960AX/BX's with G12-25's coupled with certain amps. Also have a Road King 4x12 that rocks with none other than a Road King II. Yep. The pairing is really dependent on what you're driving the cabs with. Speaker excursion and damping vary with different amps.

Avatar. I have one and it rips.
Have to go used now since they quit making 412s, not that it's bad to go used, it's actually better of course. Sad to see them phased-out though but with shipping cost included they probably would have had to jack the price to a point where people would just go mesa/marshall ect..

The newer Soldano cabs are rear loaded with V30s and sound great. Has more depth and detail than a Marshall 1960b with the same speakers.

Here's a crappy phone clip I made showing the difference, exact same speakers, taken from the Soldano cab and installed in the Marshall JMP era straight cab.

Egnater Tourmaster 412. I was browsing a Guitar Center used cabinets a few years back, and stumbled across one at a price I couldn't pass up. It is far and away my favorite cabinet.

KSR. They build cabinets for Wizard and several other companies.

While the cabinet is definitely important, I would suggest starting the search looking for any well built 412 that has V30s from 2003 or earlier in it. IMO that's more important.
