The Horus is based on the Jackson Falcon...but the founder/president of Caparison came up with the Falcon when he worked in Jackson's Custom Shop. Is there really a video of him talking about that? If so, post the link, I'd love to hear him talk about anything related to guitars.
There is a video! I'll see if I can find it. It was some schmuck interviewing Itaru Kanno.

That is actually not to far from the truth. The Comparison is a take off of a particualr jackson and you can even find a video on Youtube of the designer stating that fact.

I say play what you makes you happy but almost everything is going to be a knockoff of something unless you play parker guitar or something weird like that lol :D

True! Those Parker guitars sure are weird, aren't they? They play really nice, but feel AND sound like toys. I had a Nitefly for a short while (US made one before they went overseas) and the thing played great and stayed in tune with heavy wang bar usage, but the tone was just horrid. I mean, HORRID.

I can't play a guitar that doesn't sound good. Just can't do it.

Dude!! Those guitars are funky as hell! That said the only guy who I ever heard get a good tone out of one of those is Dave Martone! I have no idea how he is doing it though :hys:

What I really liked was that Tyler I tried, but it was £2700 (over $5000).

Now we´re talking (except for the price)!!

As for Suhr guitars, I have played a bunch and have yet to find one that I totally liked. Every one of them felt to clinical to me and their tones were good but not my thing. I think my ears don´t jive with Suhr´s because I don´t like the Od100 either (except the Classic).

That would be sweet. Nothing comes up when you type in his name though. Why would someone upload a video of him and not put his name in the description?

yeah, £2700 is a bit much.

Great guitar, though. Can't really say it's scientific, as i tried, er, one of each, but yeah, the suhr i tried was perhaps slightly "clinical" (though still a nice guitar, no doubt).

Haven't tried the od100 (that's the CAE, you're talking about, right, yoeri?), though I'd like to. I think there's only like one dealer in the entire UK, and that's in the manchester area (an area I'd never be in, and indeed never have been in)...

I love my Suhrs. Clinical? People say the exact same thing about Anderson's AND Tylers. If by clinical you mean that they are perfect in every respect, I'll agree with that

As for John Suhrs ear, I'm not sure I jive with his ear for amp tones either. But a good sounding resonant guitar will sound great with the amps I choose to play them with. Hey look Mark, a maple neck and a Floyd!

Funny, I have NEVER heard anybody say a Tyler guitar is/was clinical.

But it´s all good, whatever floats yer boat.

I've always wanted a Suhr or an Anderson, but since I couldn't afford it, I managed to just lay the cash down for a Carvin C66T. It's Carvin's answer to the boutique superstrat line, albeit with less customized features, but I could care less--I'm a freaking university student.

I still want a Suhr Tele...

i didn't read every single post...i just ordered my 4th suhr...the standard trems stay in tune almost as well as any floyd because of the locking tuners and you can change strings in 3 minutes...no joke...

i can see how they may not be for everyone though...but i love mine

That i don't agree with. I owned a Suhr with a Standard trem and if you're only using it for light tremolo work it will stay in tune ok. But if you do any Vai wanking, no way does it stay in tune like a FLoyd, not close. You can tune up a FLoyd and let it sit for a month and it will still be in tune.

On another note, anyone who has been around long enough will tell you that it is more then possible to have your fancy schmancy guitar get its ass kicked tonally by a $400 POS. I own a tex mex strat that pisses all over some of previous expensive guitars and it is a humbling experiance when you have that happen to you. It is a huge eye opener if you let it be......What that means is I know more then a few guys on certain websites who still insist there $4000 Piece of firewood sounds great when in fact it sounds like shit.
I hate people who to let there wallet dictate the tone instead of using there fucking ears.

How do you think i felt when i lined up my $2400 Suhr against a $400 Ibanez RG3120 and the Ibanez kicked the crap out of the Suhr tonewise. I was pissed when i played Jacksons, PRS guitars, and Andersons that just buried that Suhr, i was not a happy camper. But i feel it was just THAT guitar. The Suhr that Paige had sounded really sweet, but too bad that big V neck sucked ass.

And remember that special edition Suhr that SteveVHT owned  That thing sounded like a dead piece of plywood IMHO and it cost around $4000. DAMM

But again, i think Ivans Suhr sounds decent and Steve's Floyd Suhr sounds ok. I don't dig it as much as some of you other guys. I guess because i played Ivans Anderson Cobra next to it and i thought the Cobra sounded much better. Better to me meaning thicker, more balls, more lows and mids. But i often find that, to my ears, Anderson makes a better sounding guitar more often than Suhr does. Just my opinion.

When you buy a Suhr guitar you are essentially getting a fine crafted instrument that IMHO is Johns take on a Tom anderson guitar.
I agree with Danny that everything on his guitars are top shelf but they are way to pricey IMHO.

With that said, anyone who tells you that they can predict how a custom guitar will sound before it is built is full of shit. (Not saying John says this)
I have many custom guitars and no two sound alike even if they are built withe same wood, hardware and pickups. Some will sound great and others will sound like ass which is something that most people need to know before they buy a custom guitar (you have a 50 / 50 chance of it sounding good)

+1! i know some people that insist my fender japstrat will suck and sound like shit cause its a fender and its japanese. well ok it DOES play like shit lol.....but it sounds awesome!

I love my two Suhrs. I love my '81 Charvel. I love my '82 Kramer. I love my new Wayne.

I didn't love my GMW Star so it is gone. I buy and sell lotsa guitars, 'cause I only keep the ones that appeal to me. Some cost alot. Some are cheaper. I buy them for different reasons.

YMMV... buy whatever the fuck you like. I have no interest in influencing others' purchases. Thank you.

My standard trem Suhr (w/locking tuners if that matters) stays in tune no matter how much you mangle it. It is no different than a Floyd to me... I don't know why this is, it just is. As with anything YMMV...

I'm not gonna argue it, I'm just using the comparison you used, mainly aimed at the "unique" part ;)

Well, considering the Suhr looks exactly like any other standard Strat with no uniqueness at all...I don't think you even have an argument. I'm not putting down the guitar, because it's very nice, but it's not unique at all. Caparison has the headstock, clock inlays, and finishes that make them really stand out, like them or not.

Yeah, but what would make a Suhr unique to a Standard Strat is how it feels and plays, nothing to do with cosmetics. Last I heard, Fender wasn't PLEK'ing the frets. I dunno, I haven't played a Caparison or a Suhr but I wouldn't personally chose any guitar based on looks over playability.

FWIW, Suhrs don't particularly appeal to me either as it stands, maybe they would if I played one, but I'm just sayin'.

Yeah, and the thing that sets Caparisons apart from other Superstrats to me is the way they sound and play, along with the unique style. Also I don't choose guitars based on looks...or playability, I choose based on tone.
