What kind of guitar straps do you use? Do you have a preference or does it not matter to you? For a long time I just used whatever cheap strap was out there, but I have to buy some for a couple new guitars and I am wondering what is out there that is better than the ole' nylon EB strap that I have used forever.

I have a specific strap for each guitar and they're all leather/suede. I just bought a really soft black leather one from GC but I ripped the tag off and there is no logo on it.

I like the Levy's double wide Nylon straps for my heavy LPs.

I've always wanted a really nice strap, but haven't ever found anything that worked for me. Anything in leather that's not suede or garment leather is too stiff for me or too slick and slides around too much. I've used canvas before, but just prefer leather. I've almost always used 3" straps, just more comfortable. My biggest problem is that not many straps are long enough for me. I'm not a tall person and I don't wear my guitar around my knees, but I don't like it too high, either. I've thought about custom ordering something before, but just haven't found a company that I'm comfortable with spending that much money sight-unseen, if you know what I mean.

Anyway, for the past few years, I've been using several Levy's M7GG3 straps. They're nice and soft, don't slide around, don't have any metal parts (that just makes me nervous, always has, I'm weird), and is long enough to adjust to a comfortable height. The MSRP on the Levy's site is a joke... I bought the three I have for less than half that.

This is a thing that I forgot to mention and should have. I am 6'6 and have always had to max out my strap length. I am not a "sling low" player either but it always seems like it's higher than I wanted.

Yeah, I bet that is a problem... I'm 5'7". The Levy's that I'm using now can go a lot lower than I need it to. It's max length is either 65" or 69", depending on whose site you believe. How long is your strap now? (Just curious.)

I am using a brown strap made by EB, that has been on my Tele forever. It is just maxed out down to the bottom. I am not rocking it Steve Howe style by any means but it's about mid belly.

I try to play fast 3-note per string stuff on the 5th and 6th strings around the middle of the fretboard, if I have to 'lean into it' too much I raise it up until it's comfortable. It's kind of high but you can't see my belt buckle under my guitar.

I think your EB maxes out at 68". Have you looked at bass straps? Sometimes, they're a little longer.

I'm just not a fan at all of overbuilt, overpriced, leather guitar straps that the makers of convince players are necessary.

not everyones favorite, but I use Dimarzio cliplocks on all my guitars. The strap is the Dimarzio luxury leather strap. not cheap at $100, but i only buy the nylons ends instead of a complete strap for the other guitars. so for 25 or so guitars thats about $16 each. it works for me, as they are mostly strats of some type.

I used to permanently attach a seatbelt type of woven material that my sister would sew on a padded leather shoulder pad to. One on each guitar.

Now I have the jodi-head dimebag straps. But i am 6'3 so my sister added a leather extender to make them long enough. I have three of them. Super wide and comfortable. Cant find them anymore. Using straplocks instead of permanent mounting.

But i mostly play sitting in my guitar chair. My sister bought it for me just for playing. She loooooves me.

I have several kinds. I almost never buy one unless it's on sale. I mainly just like to try to color coordinate the strap and my guitar, don't care which company.

I bought a few nice leather straps from Italia leather about 10 years ago. I have one on every guitar. The are nice, and thick, if anything too thick. I had to remove the strap buttons to install them on some guitars since I don't like straplocks.
