Guys who play out (or used to)…question

2 guitars in a mono case
1 Fractal FM9 + cables + expression pedal + rubber car mat for placing FM9/Exp on stage
Backpack w/ IEM buds + pack + iPad for personal mix + L6 Wireless unit + Atomic Amplifirebox Backup device + batteries/strings/multi-tool

2-3 guitars, change guitars 2 times during show. Change strings once a month. 2 half stacks, back up. Fly gigs, fly rig (fits in carry on) 2 guitars enki case.

my hardcore gigging days in college I had one guitar and one amp but different effects. Two years of playing out about three nights a week I never had any issues. Red knob fender super 60 and a 70’s Les Paul deluxe blue metal flake. Even took a guys head off with it and it never went out of tune. Thought I killed the prick.

My last band used a few tunings, so I'd often bring 5. A main for E and drop-D, its backup, a main for Eb and drop C#, its backup and then the 5th one for an open tuning that was only used on one song.

In my gigging days, all the guitars in my collection had Floyd type bridge so it was 2 or 3 depending on the gig and set list. I would have one set to drop-D and a backup.

Go with your set list and adapt to the number of guitars to it.

Always two, one tuned drop D but they usually were not locking trems so either was easily tuned.

Had this happen to me once and it made me immediately appreciate many nights of floyd rose shenanigans and knowledge of harmonics on the board. I about had a heart attack and couldn’t see shit on stage. Everyone should cut the high E string on their Floyd guitar and then attempt to cover a song front to back without it sounding like you’re an idiot. It’s a life changing experience.

I always brought 2 guitars for each tuning. Now that I play Les Paul’s more often I could see not needing it.

Those heart attack moments are stressful as fuck. :ROFLMAO: I stopped gigging with floyds for a bit because I just didn't "have it". I later 3D printing blocks for my floyds that I'd keep on top of my amp or in my back pocket. If I ever broke a string, I'd pop it in and it would keep my floyd completely level so the rest of the strings weren't out of tune. At that point I never had strings break often enough.

This is the best idea in human history, and I wish it existed back when I played with floyds
