based on offers I had thrown at me immediately, a 962, 939, or pmm would sell to someone at 15-20k- I understand that that is insane, but thats what people will offer. 800 series somewhere from 7000-12000 depending on which and if its a production amp or a modded marshall. Beyond that I have no idea. I got mine for 9k, which while a lot was fair imo. I do think its the best amp ive played, but I also dont think any amp is really worth that much, and the crazy offers I got for mine reflect rarity rather than worth. Personally i wouldnt recommend anyone throwing more than 5k at something that is not a 800 series or higher, or a recently modded one. All subjective, but based on my own offers and prices I know stuff has sold at.

Thanks dude, massively appreciated!

In theory you could have him update it over the course of three years right?
Mine was out of Germany from an eBay sale ~4500 bucks which was brought to Larry and then it took 2 weeks to update by Larry~1500 bucks. 4 weeks to get a built crate to ship. Larry said it’s minimal work to update vs build a new unit. Shipping was about 900 dollars to get it to my home. I’d do it again if I didn’t have this one. There are some amps that I own that maybe I shouldn’t have gotten; I have ZERO regrets on this one.

I am clearly voting it’s not worth it to me. If it were a 9 series, it would already be on its way to me. Any owners of said 9 series that this piques their interest, drop me a line!
Beyond that, I’m about to pull the trigger for basically the same cash for a new Hell Razor so who knows what is worth what any longer
I guess the Larry is legendary and have heard some great clips. Will probably never be able to play one but id take a hellrazor any day

Random thoughts

If you have a super niche amp like a Larry. There is goop on parts. If it needs servicing or somethings wrong. Are you entirely dependent on Larry or is there a good chance amp tech can work out most issues?

I don't think I'll ever have anything that niche. But still curious.

There isn’t goop- I brought mine to my tech and they had no problems

Haven’t messed around with or investigated at all since I haven’t bought an amp from Europe but couldn’t you use a step up/down transformer?
It has a "Mains" selector switch on it.

Does anyone knwo when it was modded. My guess is it needs an update from Larry to really shine.

How long until someone reverse engineers these ridiculously priced things and sells them for under $3,000? Plus they don't have to deal with that ass clown. Maybe it has already been done. IDK.

Already been done. This kind of amp, that's completely rebuilt by hand and wired very well by someone who actually knows what they're doing... It's worth more than $3K. But $8K+? No.

The “someone who knows what they’re doing” part is an understatement. PTP is not the go to design choice for high gain and to get things working and stable while doing so requires a level of expertise that cannot be understated. Definitely worth more than 3k at the end of it all especially when half of that is hardware costs these days. Ballpark 4-5k similar to wizards IMO.

I agree about the value being in the skill of the builder. But there are no components in this amp that cost more than any other comparable amp. Pots, jacks, tag/eyelet board, wire, Beyschlag resistors, Vishay/ERO MKT1813 caps. Larry is in Germany and these are easier to get and cheaper than in the USA.

Yeah but I’m not comparing singles of components to a single amp - I’m talking bulk purchases since no amp uses just one of a single value. Ever since covid it’s only gotten more expensive. Beforehand the excuse was low stock high demand. Anymore it’s just the new normal. Buying in bulk gets dumb expensive anymore due to shipping costs and added tariffs. I do agree though the bulk of the price is not hardware, it’s the talent and knowledge that goes into placing them.
