Have I have been scammed by a member or am I just clutching my pearls too tightly?

Does said mother fucker know about this thread?

If not, don't tell them.

j/k cool it worked out for you

I haven’t come across the right nuns then
There's the problem right there.

"Across" was your mistake. Should've been Bukake.

I read that one, and it is interesting history no doubt, but much back and forth goes on. @mooncobra gets accused, but turns out that he did nothing wrong. I would deal with moon cobra in a second. So, I think a list in one place not a thread of accusations might be easier, but either way. I guess you could scroll to the recents. I was just looking at a bunch of petty arguments when i clicked on the link.
That's why I recommend individual threads in the classifieds-feedback section.

If it were all in one thread it wouldn't be long before peeps would be wondering who this post or that is talking about.

Still out the dude. I don’t want anyone with buyers remorse initiating refunds without communication when thousands of dollars are involved. This isn’t buy to try LLC. This is all sales are final upon receipt. The fact you even had to create the thread spells Cameron levels of distrust.

So, how did it get resolved? FedEx dropped it at a neighbor by accident or something stupid like that? Can’t leave us hanging like that
The item was paid for in full

I get this, I really do. And I have plenty of feelings on the entire thing. However, I am sure reality is somewhere between how each of us in this transaction perceived it and the buyer has a long history of good transactions (even recognized as such in the buyer/seller feedback forum and has been here longer than 10yrs). They have apologized and made the situation right so I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt and consider this situation closed at this point.

PayPal is not friendly to sellers and it can end badly with receiving back goods not as shipped (or not at all) for any reason if no communication happens beforehand. It’s exactly why I state for buyers to ask all questions beforehand because once money and goods transfer hands, all sales are final and damages are to be claimed through shipping which I gladly can help with.

If whoever did this initiate refunds without communication on any sales I’m apart of, and prior agreement from both parties as to what happens after is not agreed upon or discussed, it’s absolutely negative ratings in my books and if I get back whatever is shipped and it’s damaged or missing/changed parts, I’m going to mods and admin for perma ban. Fucking over members is not good on both parts but knobs on a multi thousand dollar amp is bullshit I don’t care how long you’ve been a member.

Let’s face it. With our phones etc we are aware at any point in the day when someone has tried to reach us, barring a weird tech issue. When somebody suddenly goes dark for several days, barring a coma in the hospital, they are aware of your communication. Even if it’s a matter of Pay Pal did the refund right away but it didn’t actually show in his bank or back on his card for 2-3 business days you can still communicate what is going on.

So did this get resolved because said person was aware of this thread and didn't want to get outed?

Or is it possible that it was going to resolve itself and the thread was not even necessary?

I know that if I'm traveling, especially, and have a lot of work on my plate - it is possible to get behind on messages. :dunno:

Agreed. I would deal with @mooncobra anytime 🤷

That old bad seller thread with the dude bitching about him reminds me of the time I sold a guy a 20w jet city head for 150$ on reverb, and he tried to tell me every single tube was either broken or "didn't sound right" (the amp was literally new in the box; I had never opened it) and he needed 200$ for a new set of glass.

I deliberately don't sell to weight weenies and amp-scuff assholes to avoid situations like that. It's used gear. Grow a dick. Some people actually fucking play their gear, believe it or not.

That being said, I've bought and sold copious amounts of gear on RT and haven't had any terrible experiences because of staying away from people like the OP is describing.

Eh, PayPal is a bitch. I had some 70 year old man named William Ayers in WA buy a Scumback M75. Swore to me it had a buzz. I said OK, I'll pay the return shipping to check it out. Speaker gets here, no buzz. I put it through break in again, test it, mount it in a cab and play it...no buzz. He demands a new speaker, I tell him there's nothing wrong with his speaker, I've done everything to make sure. He tells me he's sure I sent him a "used speaker" or a "returned speaker" and he says I have no ethics, business sense, etc...yada yada. I offer him a partial refund minus the shipping, but I'm not sending him a new speaker because OBVIOUSLY something is wrong with his guitar, his gear or his ears.

He files a paypal complaint. I upload a demo clip file of his speaker to PayPal, No buzz. He insists I've tried to commit fraud. WTF? I had to build your speaker, that's why it didn't ship out for 2-3 days.

PayPal sides with the buyer, of course, and he used my return tracking # to tell PayPal that he already paid for the return shipping. PayPal goes though all the emails, etc and says "Jim, you have to give him a full refund." Fine, he's a PITA, why am I paying the return shipping? Because we can't return your money out of something that you did in good faith as a customer service issue BEFORE the complaint was filed.

Right...I do the right thing, I lost $70 worth of shipping and PayPal fees. Ahh, that seems fair, right?

A local player needs a speaker for his Deluxe Reverb, he comes over to buy it. We test it, again, he says "This clown thought this speaker was defective?"

Two weeks later he hates the speaker so much, he's getting a 2nd speaker for his other Deluxe.

I now no longer pay the "return/customer service shipping fees back to Scumback" based on this incident. It only takes one truly fucked up individual to ruin it for the rest of my clients.

This guy happens to be the guy who will be building my cabs again, by the way, and he was a major touring act roadie for 30 years. I think maybe he knows a thing or two about buzzing speakers.

Moral of the story, it cost me $70 to do the right thing. PayPal, if they weren't a necessary evil I wouldn't use them.

End of RANT!

I have a situation with a buyer on Reverb where he said item was defective and wanted a refund and return label. Because it was fine going into the box I opened a damage claim with Reverb as I opted in on protection.
They said he needs to submit pics and a video (problem is audio related) and they would make a judgement on coverage. I asked them, if he doesn’t supply the pics and vid, where do I stand? They said I basically had the right to refuse a refund/return then. So it’s in his court now.
If he supplies the pics etc. and Reverb decides I didn’t pack it well enough or whatever I’ll honor it (if even begrudgingly) and take it back but I decided, when first contacted, I’m not promising or doing anything before looking at a shipping claim. Reverb so far hasn’t pulled a “refund them now using my CC on file, figure it out later” deal, so waiting to see how it pans out.
