We all know the Herbert is a Metal king.
How is it at Hard rock tones?
Such AC/DC , Thin Lizzy...etc?
Can it pull it off easily or does it sound like a Metal amp playing hard rock?(Hope that made sense) :D
Thanks for any input. ;)

Dan

Herbert gas? :D

On ch2 - or + without midcut engaged i find just beautiful rock tones. ;)

I was able to get some very good rock tones on CH2- Overall I think you can do most anything with the Herbert and it really is a great amp. But... in time and after several Herberts I have found I prefer more of a Marshall flavor (Splawn Quick Rod to be specific).

Herbert for all tones. :D
Seriously I wouldn't know a style the Herbert can't handle. One might prefer a different amp but saying the Herbert can't do *insert random style here* is just bullshit imo....

I didn't play "metal", as such, when I first tried out a Herbert. It was about two and a half years ago - and I didn't even realise when a Diezel Herbert was at the time   - But I was getting some truly fantastic classic rock tones. I was playing Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Metallica, etc. at the time and I had absolutely no problem dialling in Cantrell-type sounds.

I don't believe in an amp not being able to do certain genres. There are limitations, of course, but imo, if you know how to tweak an amp, any good high-gainer will get you high gain tones and all the variations of it.

No Dan, there is NO WAY to get a rock tone out of this amp.
Only buy it if you want to scare little children and old women,
or if you want to break down houses ! :D

Sorry bro, I had to say this ;)

Hey, this amp is tone heaven if you like ultra brutal stuff or want to switch into blues/rock stuff -no problem !

YOU NEED TO BUY ONE

Of course it can.
Also depends on what kind of rock.. Modern rock absolutely. Blues rock..? Silver Jubile  OR CH.2 in - mode with gain cranked. It can do everything. Simply an amazing amp. BUT make sure you find the right speaker combination for it! It responds VERY different to different speakers and cabs.
When i do Bonamassa stuff i also use the - mode with a tube screamer in front of it, or even at times the clean channel with the tube screamer and roll back the volume to taste.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Just that I owned alot of HIGH GAIN amps in the past and they always "Suffered" when trying to play old school rock.
I could never dial in a "crunch" it was always METAL or "less" metal.
I love the VH4S.....just trying to find out more about the Herbert.
Thats the amp I been gassing for the last 6 years. :D

I think the Herbert always sounds either metal-y or jazzy. But like I said, if you know how to use the amp - tweak and tamper - it can sound as crunchy as you want, whilst always maintaining it's own unique slant on rock (a more huge and epic viewpoint). In my opinion, it's just a matter of tampering with that core metal sound until you've dialed in an individual rock sound.

Diezel aren't about hitting everyone's tones; they're about hitting your version of what it's in your head. I'm not trying to patronize here - You probably know more than me as you already own a VH4 - I'm just giving you my opinion.

Thats what I love about the VH4S....
it can do it all and it sounds great at everything. From Metal to Country.

I am just trying to see what all the herbie can do outside of metal.
Most of the clips show it in metal zones(Not a bad thing at all)

Yeah, everyone goes for the metal clipzorz because it's what the Herbert is predominantly best at, and what most people wanna hear. I think the actual user and owner of it has the most fun recording himself playing the br00talz anyway.

All the best with your search. ;)

I never ever had such outstanding ACDC tones till i played Herbert.
I played several Marshalls and i owned one of the best sounding Marshalls i ever heard.

When we play ACDC i mostly have the Malcom parts. F.e. "you shook me all night long" i have to wait till my part starts and it´s always a heavy BANG when i start with the G maj chord. And it´s ch2-!
It´s very huge.

I think that´s the point !
You can do all styles of music with every Diezel.
It´s just the point, what kind of music you´re more into....
That´s why we want to have them all !!!

Thats the kinda stories I like to hear!
My VH4S does all the tones good but the Metal isnt as EVIL sounding as the Herbert.
I want to get the Herbie to add to the VH4S.... :D
Just dont want the overlapping in tones but I know the Herbert has its own thing going on. ;)
