i've heard the Rock Standards were not that great. I have a couple nice 60's plexi Marshalls, how much are they going for these days? And how many of them are "great" sounding ones. I know I've been thru a bunch of Marshalls over the years and kept 3 of them....

I remember liking your original plexi clip more so than the Wizard when you did the comparison a while back, I think you were playing "In My Dreams".
I recorded that clip after I did a bunch of mods to the plexi. It is / was an awesome amp...with the Wizard I get that tone, with fx, a clean channel and the amp doesnt get hot and mush out towards the end of the nite. The Marshall is good for about a set and a half, then its done for the nite.

When did you first pickup a Wizard? A friend of mine had a Wizard head way back in the 90's. I think maybe 1994 or 95. Someone sold it to him cheap believe it or not. It was actually a guy named Jack Frost. Somehow that guy Jack frost had a ton of gear.

Anyway, that head my friend had just KILLED, i mean it smoked most any Marshall i heard. I owned a 68 short box Plexi tremolo and after i heard his Wizard i wanted to trade him but he wouldn't budge. I know they're a simple amp and cost a lot, but damm, the thing had such balls and crunch to it.
I met Rick in '96 at winter NAMM while I was at GIT. That's when I first heard them....I finally landed one in about '01-02....

good example. i bought a 73 superlead from ebay in early 90`s for cheap. i got it sounded like shit. took it to guy close by and got it back/ still not there by a long shot. finally talked to greg germino and took it to him. opened it up and within 30 secs" i see whats wrong the output tranny wired up wrong/ on and on and on. diagnosed 6/7 fucked up things some idiot did to it in 2 minutes. left it for a week and picked it backed up, instant anything you wanna play through it. lynch/ allmans/ fandango /even vh :aww: all with your guitar volume. i ask him what he did to it to make it so killer? he replied i put it back to stock the way it is supposed to be.
Ebay was around in the early 90's? i didnt get a pc until 97-98.

"heightened production" filling a backline order going to a major group for their upcoming world tour. (I can't say who) I CAN say that Keith Urban's band just took delivery of 2 amps. The backline order is not for him.
I would guess that's Brad's new rig (rareguitar), but it's missing roadcases. :)

  ;)

It would be sweet for them to go to Queensryche. I'd love to see them live.

It would be kind of hard to fit all of those into a bar.
Sure, but now that they are playing chili cook-offs and high school gyms it's no problem!

I got my first PC in 97. Back then a Mac was something you ate at McDonalds and Windows were something that Mexicans cleaned everyday. ;)

ha! i really dug queensryche back then, one of few metal bands that i could sit and enjoy listening from start to finish....especially that mindcrime album. damn they were a great live band too. kinda sad

Well, who knows "American Soldier" may be their second cumming.

Im not holding my breath and I love Queensryche. But quite honeslty after DeGarmo left they really werent all that anymore. For me Rage, Operation, and Empire was the peak.

Saw 'em open for Metallica a coupla times on the Justice tour when Mindcrime first came out - they were stellar! I gotta say though that "The Warning" is still my favorite Queensryche album...

Ya know, even though they are playing crappy venues I joked about since their heyday, I don't that's sad at all. The kinda fame they had is pretty elusive and rarely has longevity. Look... they're still playing and writing and whether we like the new stuff or not, they are doing what THEY want to do. If they didn't waste it all stupidly, they've all prolly got a little bank to retire on eventually. Seems like a pretty epic life to me, even if they do have to play at the local county fair now...

Never was a big Queensryche fan, but yes they were great opening for Metallica that tour. When you saw Metallica that time, did they sound like total white noise ? They mostly did when I saw them on that tour. Far too loud !!! Though the guitar tone was godly when you could make it out.

They were UNBELIEVABLY loud! It was at Long Beach Arena and that place has the most reflections of any concert hall I've been in - really hard to distinguish Metallica at that volume... Additionally, before Metallica came on, the fans practically destroyed the place by ripping the foam cushions out of the seats and raining them down over those of us who were on the floor. What a mess! I also almost got killed by people rushing the floor as well. The lights went down for Metallica and I could see hundreds of people running for my seating area from the bleacher seats. I left my seat for fear for my life and hung by the mixing area on the floor. Hundreds of people ran by me destroying everything in their wake. I walked through the crowd later looking at the mangled mess where my floor seat used to be... :)
