My Hermansson is truly bad ass I managed to get a 4 channel PA build, it has his 2 stage clean, and 3, 4 and 5 gain stage mods with some serious tone shaping abilities. It’s so gnarly. So many good sounds on tap.
I found with the ones I had and tried they both have the overall signature Hermansson sound and feel: super tight, fast, slick, attacky, clanky, hollow mids, but the Marshall 5GS’s I found smoother with a bit less character, but slightly tighter and you hear maybe very vague remnants of Marshall left in it’s sound. The Recto Herm’s I found to be a bit thicker, a little grittier, more character, more sizzly highs, vague remnants of the recto sound left in there, a little less tight, but still way tighter and faster than the other 99.9% of amps out there lol. My triple rev f Herm might be about as tight actually with its extra tight and bright push-pull knobs. I much preferred his recto mods and they’re cheaper too to get done
