Thank you for taking time to listen to each demo and posting.I liked both clips, but lean toward dry as some others have said. If it rocks dry, it'll rock we, IMO. The amp sounds really grindy and mean. I love it.
Sounds great man. Agree with hearing another dry demo but still sounded awesome.
Wow, great words indeed. Thank you rottingcorpseYou never fail to impress.
I'm liking how you are skinning that cat! Hope your recovery is going well man!
Thank you NewWorldManI dig it, sounds good. I always prefer dry clips, though I don’t mind a mix of the two. Sounds like a solid Marshall.
I along with a couple other guys can build what was Ronnie Chanpagne's Snorkler (He checked out my version of it (YouTube) with a big yes that is as close as you get remark.
As I said I can build the Snorkler but I wanted something darker and pushing to the edge of tube saturation. This amp on 4 will do a convincing Snorkler with the mids up but I built it to cut more and sit well everywhere it is placed.
I wanted to go darker with this, then add a 5th stage to really make it interesting. I look forward to some studio work with this un-named circuit.
In summary I wanted to build upon a legendary circuit but add greatly to the predecessor to take it further into the dark growling articulate place my ears exist within. I have arrived. (If but only for now...lol)
Below is the requested dry demo. Forgive my sloppiness as there is no excuse but I sure do have one.
THOUGHTS PLEASE
I will Likely open a new thread for it.
Thanks again, David Hopkins...♫
Thank you for listening. Yes it stays tight as I assembled a fixed resonance that keeps the amp where it should be.Damn, I like it.
How's the low end? Does it still stay tight with 5?
Well I missed it last glance but just heard the dry demo. Jesus man this sounds good, are you selling these?
I am in total agreement with adding a mid boost for anyone who would request it or any other added feature/assembly. Through this means is how I developed a couple additions when requested by member Dan Burton. Thanks DB.David the four gain stages sounded great and more than enough IMHO, maybe incorporate some type of mids boost for the 4 gain stages for lead solos like George did for the Metroplex.
I'm in agreement with RacerXrated that your 4 gain stage preamp has a great signature growl to it, so congrats on that.
I found the 5 gainstages to sound bloated and a bit tubby with not as much detail and clarity in the highs and the increase in compression was noticeable.
It's cool that you are experimenting and you may hit on a combination that will work with the 5 gain stage setup. Gower also experimented with 5 gain stages and I think he ran into the same type of issues. Sometimes too many gain stages can be counterproductive IMO.
