Honest Thoughts Please on New 4 & 5 Stage High Gain Hopkins Circuit.

Sounds great man. Agree with hearing another dry demo but still sounded awesome.
 
The dry demo sounds wicked! The 4 stage sounds similar to the Pandora that I have when I don't have the clipping switch turned on. This new one sounds maybe a touch more aggressive but that could be how it is dialed in. Very interested in hearing the final product.

I work toward designing circuits I will play that others may choose to play. I can build many amps that I personally would not play, therefore I do not offer that service. There are other talented individuals to cover the Fortin Clipper circuits. I admit they sound great I just prefer to round growl of a well laid analog tube circuit.

I dig it, sounds good. I always prefer dry clips, though I don’t mind a mix of the two. Sounds like a solid Marshall.

Well I missed it last glance but just heard the dry demo. Jesus man this sounds good, are you selling these?

Thank you for listening. Yes it stays tight as I assembled a fixed resonance that keeps the amp where it should be.

I will do the mod. With Marshall and everything else inflated in the last two years along with taxing on line sales now that the malls have been forced out of business I no longer buy amps to mod an d sell.

David the four gain stages sounded great and more than enough IMHO, maybe incorporate some type of mids boost for the 4 gain stages for lead solos like George did for the Metroplex.

I'm in agreement with RacerXrated that your 4 gain stage preamp has a great signature growl to it, so congrats on that.:2thumbsup:

I found the 5 gainstages to sound bloated and a bit tubby with not as much detail and clarity in the highs and the increase in compression was noticeable.

It's cool that you are experimenting and you may hit on a combination that will work with the 5 gain stage setup. Gower also experimented with 5 gain stages and I think he ran into the same type of issues. Sometimes too many gain stages can be counterproductive IMO.

I am in total agreement with adding a mid boost for anyone who would request it or any other added feature/assembly. Through this means is how I developed a couple additions when requested by member Dan Burton. Thanks DB.

As for the 5th stage there are those that totally want that. Not that adjustments can’t be made by request. From here it is an easy fix. A simple re-bias of the VX (added 12AX7) will tame it to the customers request. Should not even be an issue IMO.

In the room it sounds right to my ear as that borderline all analog tube signal was the target.
