Some of you already know about this, but I'm going to tell everyone about this, because I'm not letting this bastard get away with this. Also, people should think twice about giving this man even a cent!

• May 18th, 2011 I ordered a RST24 midicontroller from Custom Audio Electronics in Los Angeles, which is owned by Robert Bradshaw. On the same day, I payed a deposit of $300 via Paypal to Roberts Paypal-account (pubert@pacbell.net).

• June 16th, 2011 Robert told me that the unit was ready, and could be shipped. I opened up a digital credit card (E-card) and gave Robert the details, and he charged me $1,374. I had now payed $1674 for the unit.

• Immediately after this, Robert started giving excuses regarding why he couldn’t ship the unit, and a number of delays followed. Making contact with Robert was/is incredible difficult, he doesn’t respond to emails and disconnects his phone.

• December 13th, 2011 I had had enough. I cancelled my order and asked for a refund. Robert refused to give me a refund, stating that he simply didn’t have the money. He told me that he would give me the refund in January.

• February24th 2012 after I threatened with legal actions, Robert refunded $400 via Paypal and then told me he didn’t have any more. After that, he yet again stopped responding to emails and calls.

• March 20, 2012 I reported Robert Bradshaw to my bank (Swedbank) and filed a claim against him.

• April 2012, my father who was in LA during a trip, tried to visit Robert at CAE to ask where my money is. To no surprise, Robert didn't open the door, even though he was there.

To this day, Custom Audio Electronics and Robert Bradshaw still owes me $1274. Robert doesn't answer emails, or his phone.

So my warning to all of you, don't buy ANYTHING from this "man" (if you can call such a cowardly jerk for a man). He will rip you off and then treat you like a piece of crap. This is not the first time he has done this to somebody, and he will probably never stop.

There's always at least two sides to a story but I've got to say the amount of posts I've seen over the years for builders that take money and then don't have money to provide refunds is troubling. Bob's been around a long time...

With that said... :checkthisout:

I believe Steve K has a similar story...sad deal, as Bob is capable of doing great work.

Damn, is flyin to L.A. out of the question (edit: Just saw you had someone go there). Wasn't he the 80's custom rack/pedalboard guy to the stars back then. Maybe you aren't famous enough.

Hope it works out for you...

Not surprised to hear this. Not the first story I've heard like this with people dealing with Bradshaw. I just can't comprehend how someone can do this. No wonder why he broke-everyone knows he's a thief.

Sounds like someone never got the Secret Cameron Handshake! That comes with full LA street and forum credit. Bradshaw should honor Secret Cameron Handshakes I believe.

Damn that sucks dude!!
I've seen a few of these story's about him, hope one day you guys can get some kind of resolution!

It seems like it can be a crapshoot buying from private builders. I only have experience with Pat Gigliotti of Gigliotti Guitars. He frequently responded to emails and never dicked me over. It took awhile to get my Tele, but when I did, I was like "Wow, that's the neck tone that has been in my head!".

He seems to be in good with Zachman. Maybe he can go to bat for you?

Wow... it seems like we see a lot of stories like these regarding "custom" builders in the industry.

I guess I should thank my shallow pocket book that I can only afford "lowly" off-the-rack gear...

BTW... I do feel your pain OP. This is garbage and I'm glad you're getting the word out there. I've known about Bradshaw since the 80s, but hadn't yet got the memo that he engauges in such business practices.

Wow, what a story!

I do hope you get your money back with the help of your bank at least!

And yeah, no wonder he never has made it big if this is the way he handles his business.

That sucks,
Thanks for posting your experience with Bradshaw. I was really considering have him build a custom switcher for me, but decided against it do stories such as yours. You might have had better luck if you were in Toto.

Unfortunately I imagine some of the builders out there who have been responsive and great would also do a 180 if they were having money trouble. It's easy to be pro and responsive when the money's there. Going with a small builder can be a risk but for some the reward is worth the risk. Good luck with a resolution.

People, You gotta use a legit credit card when you buy stuff like this. They can and will help you. Paypal and E card or whatever you used, good luck.

Pure speculation on my part, but one possibility is your unit was sold to a high profile customer (rock star) who needed it fast instead. If true, thats unethical and NOT COOL :gethim: It happens

Yep, Bob has $750 of mine. Just sent him an email last week, reminding him of the 3 year anniversary of working on my gear. Still no response. I am not worthy. So, in the meantime, I will let Cameron build my stuff. Got the handshake working in my favor.
