I have checked that I have all MAC OSX updates and still to no avail. I'm wondering if my problem lies in the most recent OSX 10.4.10 upgrade. Might be a problem with Java running in 10.4.10. I noticed that others have gotten GLydian to run in 10.4.9, but so far none in .10. I'm on some other forums for Macs that might be able to provide some insight as well.

This issue seems like related to an issue in Java library (SpringLayout) .

Is this something that you can help me with? I really don't know what that is. I've tried applying the Java update again thinking that maybe some files didn't get copied. But, alas, I was wrong. Still spinning my wheels.

I thought I'd try another approach to try and weed out any other possibilities that may be buggering me up. I tried reverting back to the more revered Mac OS X 10.4.9. I thought it might play better with Java. No success though. Still the same problem. I'm hoping that some one might be able to help here...

On another note, I was able to get the program functioning perfectly on my windows machine...however it is a desktop and I can't pick it up and take it to and fro. However, the program works like a charm (except that the signal routing does not update in real-time it seems) and it is wonderful having all the parameters in front of me and not have to scroll through menus and try to remember what freaking knob to turn all the time!

Hi, I am sorry that I am not able to help you on this. But as I said earlier it is some thing to do with the Mac's Java library implementation. I am pretty sure it is a simple problem which I may be able to create some work-around for it if I get access to a Mac. In one or two months I am planning to get a Mac book. So definitely expect newer refined version of GLydian in few months.
Thanks,
GLydian

I'll be looking forward to your refinements!! It's an excellent program. TC should take note... :gethim:

Is the issue of real-time response of the signal routing something to look forward to in the updates or is it intentional?

Keep up the good work! Thanks!

Hi Guys,
I was little upset about these ups and downs on this board lately. But anyway it seems to be back in track I guess. I feel sorry for Mitch, he was the guy who contacted me and motivated to post my stuff here. I hope those days he was trying to push this forum forward very hard. I don't know what happened to him :aww: .
Anyway last few days I got to fix few annoying bugs in GLydian.
Mostly related to Modifires, Relay 2 and on/off of effects. Good improvements.

At last I bought another separate MIDI interface. MOTU Fast-Lane USB. Two MIDI in/out's. It works fine with G-Major and GLydian. One more item to the "MIDI interfaces known to work with G-Major (and GLydian)" list. Now I can test GLydian using my laptop and connect FCB1010 and G-Major both to the system (My amp was thrown out of the loft to room, but still my desktop is in loft this delayed my GLydian use for long time) . When computer is off one button push on FarstLane, FCB1010 is connected to G-Major no juggling with MIDI cables. No rocket science but helps a lot when you are so lazy to connect/disconnect few cables every time you want to play.

I'll upload the new version of GLydian soon.
Thanks,
GLydian

As far as I can tell, Java 1.5 is only available for OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or higher. I have 10.3.9 (Panther) and I can only find an update of Java 1.4.2_12.
Am I outta luck for using GLydian?

Scott

Well here I am, looking for help.
I'm having troubles trying to upgrade my firmware from 1.26 to 1.27.

I've posted a thread at TC's support and at Yahoo Groups also.

I've purchased a M-Audio Uno interface. With that I've saved my patches using MIDIOX and it seems my midi connections are working fine, but I cannot upgrade to 1.27. I've tried several times and no results. One particular time it downloaded untill the end without errors, but when I turned the power back on, v1.26 was still there.
Sometimes it shows "Download error 0" but most of the times the unit freezes when the download reaches "download code 021".
I've reset system parameter to clear Kernel after each failure.

Here's what TC support answered:

"If you have any other midi devices connected to the unit, ie MIDI
splitter or any USB hub while trying to upgrade. Hook up only what you
need and keep the signal flow streamlined. We have found in the past
that this can effect an upgrade."

But I think it doesn't apply for my case. I've got nothing USB
connected to my PC except the M-Audio interface.
Well, since I'm only sending data from PC to GMajor should I
disconnect 'Midi Out' from GMajor to PC?

Do you think is there something else I could try?

FYI, my notebook is a Toshiba Satellite, onboard soundcard, Windows XP.

Thanks!

Is there anyone here who has a GMajor connected to a GCX Audio Switcher/Ground Control Pro and also connected to their PC? The MIDI In on the GMajor is used up by the GCX Audio Switcher. I'd like to interface the GMaj to my PC through my M-Audio 2496. Could I use a Midi Y cable (does it exist?) to connect both my GCX and M-audio card to the GMajor so I could keep everything connected at once?

Thanks.

Dave

I'm back...
I've tried toi upgrade my GMajor using another PC, without sucess.
So TC wanted to charge me U$97 plus shipping... well that's 1/4 of its price

But I've found that RealMajor works just fine with 1.26, so I stuck with it. :D :D

I have heard people used M-Audio Uno interface to upgrade G-Major software. You can try few more things
1. Try to use some other computer.
2. Try to barrow some other MIDI interface if you can :-)
3. Use short MIDI cable.

Anyway you need to connect MIDI in and out both to do the software upgrade.

M-Audio Uno was one of the few recommended interfaces by TC's website, that's why I bought it. I've already tried with another computer; I might try with a third one just to be sure. But for what I've written to their support center they might have detected some malfunction, maybe. Just to add, my GMajor started freezing once in a while :( . I have a Line Conditioner on my rack that shows when the AC is low, and in our rehearsal I had to use some AC transformer that was suplying 5-10% lower voltage; after I've replaced that it didn't freeze anymore   . That was the main reason I needed to backup my patches. And editing my patches on my PC would be a major bonus  (hate those knobs).
Another interface to borrow, that would be hard to find here :(
About cables, I think the M-Audio cables are short enough, around 1m. The connections were all done right.

Any other opinions would be great ;)

Hey G! Wondering if you're still doing any development on your software? Last I heard, you were waiting to get a mac to do some testing and development for us Mac geeks. I've since integrated my Mac into my rig running Guitar Rig 2, so it would be extremely useful to be able to run GLydian to edit my GMajor. I tried again to run it on my mac with no luck. Hope you're still working on it! It's a great software program! Thanks!

Can someone enlighten me on setting up the expression pedals on the FCB to perform as a volume pedal and FX mix on the same patch? I.e. having the furthest right pedal for volume and the other for the FX mix or shortening/lengthening delay trails, etc.

*bumb*

Hello folks! Could you send me some patches in sysex (Glydian compatible) format?

No links to the Yahoo or Real Major patches sites, because I've checked those already :)

Thanks!

Hello, I downloaded GLydian version 1.4 and i'm tryin' to run g-major 1.27 from it.

I wanted to save all my user patches for backup, so I tried the "add user patches to the patch library" option.
First of all, Glydian doesn't recognize all my patches (only the first 30 in the "open patch" menu... when i have around 60!)

Then, when I want to make a backup by the command "save patch library to sysex..." a save as window opens, but when i type in a filename and save, the file's not saved anywhere. I've tried another filename, to put an extension .syx, changing directory... but nothing works.

I think i'm doing something wrong.

I've tried in windows editor and in the java one. Neither one of them works.

I just had a similar experience. I put my g-major up a few years ago and semi-retired my rack. Well recently I got a rackmount recto and brought my rack back out. I had ver 1.11 on my g-major. I tried upgrading to ver 1.27 but had those same errors as you i.e. stops at 021, download error 09, etc. Finally got pissed off and sent it in to TC for them to upgrade. Waiting on its return. Then I will get into all this patch editor mess.

I have a G Major and don't have a clue of what you guys are talking about  It's like your talking in Chinese or something :aww: What benefits would I get by upgrading?

I feel like a total a total retard with this stuff :(

My g-major came with this version 1.27 i have never upgraded. So I guessed there was a problem in the Glydian software...
Any help please?
