Some guitars just sound good and some don't.

Take for instance, the four Fenders on this couch. All of these don't.

Just got off the phone with "Daryl" at Gibson Customer service(?). He said that its 1 piece on certain custom shop models 56-60yrs and a few others, but some of the 2013 and beyond trads are either 1 piece or laminated. but there is no single way to tell by serial number etc. He went on to say it's completely fine and he doesn't know why people have raised any questions about it. I have been playing my 2013 Trad for hours on end, I can't seem to put it down, and I'm not entirely sure I will find another LP that I like as much. so…its gonna have to stay for a little while longer until I make up my mind.

Good to know. I'll find out when I switch the nut out. It really isn't a huge deal to me, but it's just nice to know what you've got.

I love my 2013, best playing, feeling and sounding LP I've ever experienced...quickly became my go to guitar...I've had it about 5 months now, mine comes in a hair over 9 lbs.

this is true...you can have two identical guitars with the exact same specs come off the line and they'll sound different.

I've had or played fantastic sounding swiss cheesed, chambered, or solid. All different tenon's.

I remember buying my first Les Paul in the 90's and being very excited about it, joined one of the LP Forums only to be told indirectly that it was inferior because it was swiss cheesed.

That's when I started to learn how derisive the communities can be sometimes among the owners/collectors with the various sub-groups.

But yes it's all up to the player to decide if it bothers them enough, I know my feelings on the topic are completely irrational in many ways.
