Man, getting some morning feedback from family and it's def one of the harder hitting storms in the Tampa/St. Pete area for a while. Lotta badly flooded neighborhoods this time. My sister lost everything out on the beach and had to get rescued (she shouldn't have stayed). My parents place is a higher chunk of ground and ok but my best friends parents just down the road has a boat parked in the living room now. Water up to or near the counter tops seems to be a recurring theme with the beach areas and low lying coastal areas which pretty much means a whole ton neighborhoods west of 19 got flooded up the coastline.

If there are any gulf coast FL guys reading or if the reader has family along the gulf coast, hope everyone came out ok. ☦️

Sorry to hear brother. Hope everyone fares well. One thing I'm glad not to have to contend with. What does getting rescued entail?
Haven't gotten the full story on that rescue yet. Everyone is just trying to clear out debris so you can get in and out of the neighborhoods. I will say that if you are hurting for work, being there after a storm can make for a great short term gig cause everyone needs able bodies to haul debris or work a saw.

Watching the situation in Georgia right now, unbelievable flooding, lots of car rooftops.
Way down on the list of severity; I was gonna mow today but winds from Helene arriving here....45-50 mph. No thanks.

There is flooding starting in the Asheville NC area as a result:

It amazes me how far-reaching the effects are of this one, it's huge. I'm in northern indiana, we are getting the wind up here and the rain stretches as far north as Indy. Huge.
I think it's bad news for Asheville. Apparently two rivers converge there. Hill country anywhere=lots of bad flash flooding. There are even areas en route to my place that are low water crossings, subject to impassible conditions. Until they built a new bridge at the bottom of the hill there were a couple times we were flooded into the neighborhood and once where I was flooded out for about half a day. Those moments when you are glad you pay the extra for ground clearance and 4x4.

Really? Why's that? Tell me more please.
The water runs down steep hills quickly into low lying areas and in turn rushes into dry creek beds which run beneath, or over, roadways because most roadways take the path of least resistance, and then flow into full time rivers and creeks. When heavy rains happen in such a short time frame the rivers and creeks can swell rapidly, catching people off guard. The 2015 deal in Wimberley the Blanco rose something like 40 feet in an hour. Tossed the fischer store road bridge a few hundred yards down stream. Covered the RR12 bridge going into wimberley. Looking at it normally you wouldn't think it was possible cause it's way up off the river.

Is it flooding down in Texas and all the telephone lines are down?

Anyway bad lyrics aside hope everything is ok.

Alligators swimming down the streets in Florida.
That’s actually kind of common.

I’m up in Savannah and they’ve just about got power fully restored. I had some large limbs fall on and against the house. No damage. Some big trees around us went down. A/C is fried. Luckily, our normal A/C company had someone on call and we’re waiting on a new fan motor. All in all we got pretty lucky around here. Helene caused several tornadoes.

I’m watching the North Carolina footage and the flooding up there is awful.

Hurricane season still has a couple of months to go…

Well I'm glad you are relatively unscathed brother. It was a frog strangler here yesterday and we still have some wind right now. No real damage though.
