I’m trying to get past my shyness

@Techdeth - I didn't realize this was new for you. The camera part. Is this the video you texted me?

Dang, I thought you made that just for me :(

 j/k

PS: Does your little trick work if I use the my index and middle finger or does it have to be the first two?

First two fingers is the best workout . But that’s ok too . But much easier . That’s how zakk plays
Happy Thanksgiving man !
December will be fun !

It's how Django Reinhardt played too, not that he had any choice given that he couldn't move the other two thanks to a fire when he was a teen.

I think you're off to a good start. Just keep going.

I've got a YouTube channel (not guitar-related) where I talk quite a bit on camera, that I've been doing since 2020. I'd like to think I've gotten a lot better at it over time.

Nearly every interaction we have with others, we have some goal. We are selling ourselves, our message, our goal. Whether it's a job interview or getting a date...it's sales. You're selling yourself, your idea, your product, etc. to others.

For work, I've had to do public speaking / product demos at large events / technical conferences to dozens, hundreds and thousands of people, including unscripted Q&A sessions after my presentations. I've been doing this for decades, and I have a team of younger sales people that I help with their presentations to make them more effective, focused, organized and targeted for the objectives (ours and our clients').

Before my presentations, and now before people on my team present to our clients, we do dry runs / practice; and I critique - what works, what doesn't, and things they do that are distracting, show weakness or uncertainty etc.

Same.

Best advice that helped me as young sales exec was to video tape yourself and then have others critique it. This was BEFORE smartphones so literally a small VHS recorder.

I’m a descendant of him ! I’m from Gypsy heritage . I think it’s the best shred music ever. Gypsy jazz with distortion is a huge part of my playing . No one ever told those dudes that playing too many notes was bad . They are my muse

Wow man; fancy that. What're the odds?

First time in 25 years online that I've even mentioned his name.

Regardless of technical ability many musicians have stage anxiety. When you’re at live concert your viewpoint is just one or yourself. But on stage viewing the audience it’s very different. As one artist said imagine your audience are all naked 🤣.
Have fun it’s literally all in your head.
Some people will be critical some won’t.
I won’t mention names but some very popular YouTube channels aren’t really stellar. On the other hand I can find amazing players that have very low view counts
Just be yourself and have fun.
