I do like SSO, but the mods, a couple of them anyway, are heavy-handed douchebags. But I guess when you're dealing with a younger/less mature crowd which is what a lot of SSO is, you have to swing the ban-hammer often. I'm guessing the mods have seen our discussion here and reacted to Steve's post in the classifieds there. I could be wrong but I'm guessing our "trash talking" on their forum played a part; though I could be totally off-base. It is a very busy forum and the excuse I've seen is, "we don't have time to PM anyone and warn them". They just ban you and move on to the next. I've always played by the rules there so I've never had any issues, but I can see how many do if they don't familiarize themselves w/ the rules of engagement. Definitely not as bad as TGP though. I don't see a lot of double-standard b.s. so that's a plus. A couple of the guys from SSO make their way here from time to time and they're nice chaps away from SSO.
It's nothing like here though, where you can joke around w/ fake ads for an elusive EVH guitar pick and whatnot. I like that Brad allows us to freely comment in the classifieds. It's usually pretty harmless stuff, mostly encouraging, and if someone gets out of line folks here will self-moderate (like on engage757's thread where someone was questioning his pricing on the LPC he listed).
Obviously not all gear forums can be a cool as Rig-Talk. This forum has become my favorite gear forum by far. A ton of knowledge and a lot of great gear passes through here and most regulars are pretty nice. Brad King is cool as they come and I'm glad he trusts the inmates running the asylum (for the most part).
