I have been thinking about getting the Axe Fx so maybe some of you guys who have it can help me clear up some things I haven't been able to figure out well from the manual.

I see there are two sets of ins and outs. What I would like to do is run my guitar into the Axe FX, then have any (virtual) pedals that I might want in front of my preamp like phaser, eq, compressor and then go into my Egnater M4 preamp. Then I would go out of the M4 back into the Axe Fx for things like reverb, delay, chorus. I want to be able to toggle on and off the stombox FX with my midi controller and also have tap tempo from my controller for the delays. Is this possible?

How does the phaser hold up to something like a real Phase 90 when run as a virtual pedal in front of a real amp?

How does the wah funtion work? Would I be able to replace my Dunlop rack wah?

This is pretty much exactly the same stuff I'm wondering about too...especially regarding the wah :)

Yep, you can route it like that no problem.

As far as holding up to individual fx I think it's just going to depend on your preference. I've never heard someone try and perfectly cop the Phase 90, but I imagine it could be done. Heck, someone came really close to catching the Red Witch Moon Phaser vibe, which is the holy grail phaser IMO. I guess what I'm trying to say, you may or may not be able to get the "exact" phase 90 tone, but you should have no trouble getting something you really like and not feel like you're compromising.

I personally haven't messed with the wah yet, but from what I understand it can be set up to activate with your pedal in the same fashion a regular wah does. Check me on that to make sure though.

Someone posted an AxeFX clip of a wah that was freakin' horrible..can't find it now tho :-/

Just for the record....I don't think much of any of the high gain clips I have heard online.....but the Axe is definitely doing the job for me.

Anyone who has followed my gear purchases knows I have owned some GREAT amps. I choose the Axe over anything I have owned to date. ;)

And knowing how great some of those amps sound, may make us judge your ears worse because you didnt like them.

Who said I didn't like them? I love a lot of amps that I have owned. They were/are AWESOME!

I just said I choose the Axe, which I think (IMHO, YMMV, etc, etc :D ) is as good as anything I have ever owned individually and provides flexibility far beyond any.

As much as I've witnessed the revolving amp door involving Tony.....if he's kept it this long then it must be pretty good.....

You got that right.

I have liked the clips and the videos I have seen of it, and I really like the versatility of the Axe FX, but nothing I have seen has made me think it will replace tube amps like some people have been saying(not you of course, just have read this on the internet in various places).

I really hope you continue to enjoy your Axe, and though I would not sell my Einstein to get one, I would still like one.

FWIW, I don't expect anyone to agree with my opinion...there are waaaay too many great amps out there for one of anything to be right for everyone.

I love it, as do many who have one...some have returned them and others judge them from a distance....all of that is cool by me

How long is the wait usually for a Ultra? I added myself to it a few weeks ago :)

As of now it's several months. Fractal is currently gearing up for greater production volume this quarter so that could/will change. You can bypass the wait list for 400 bucks more provided a unit is in stock. That's what my dumb ass did but I don't regret it whatsoever. The thing is just incredible and worth every penny.
