Seen him a few times. Once with Damn the Machine (opening for Flotsam & Jetsam in 93 or 94), Once with OHM and once with his rock cover band at a BBQ joint (Think shred over Lynard Skynard). A local friend was managing him for a while. I almost got a chance to open for OHM, but they scheduled the show for the day after my bands CD release show at the same venue and the venue wouldn't let us. Pissed me off.

He's an insane player and a hell of a nice guy too

That CD is one of my all time fave instrumental discs. Good choice. I assumed he was still using the Bogner Fish based rig during this era.

I'll have to break out that CD...I haven't listened to it for many years now

I was watching that gear interview from 2012 when I clicked on this thread, haha. What great timing.

Chris' technique is just crazy. Watch his left hand, it's so smooth and fluid. It just doesn't look "right", at all. The smoothness is reflected in his beautiful legato. I wish I could get even close to that level of fluidity. He can play the most "guitar" like runs, and sound like a violin. It's amazing. No one sounds like him. I love his tone too.

ok browsed all of those. I like some of the dual harmony guitar things. Other than that, kinda leaves me cold. Not engaged in it. Maybe its just not my style.

Uli has never done anything for me either, never will. There were so many guitar players of that era, Gilmour, Blackmore, Page, Morse, Gary Moore, that all had more flavor, IMO. I always found it boring and bland.
