What are you looking to get done with the chainsaw? What kind of jobs will you be needing from it? Big thick downed trees...smaller cuts...

chop shit up
I have an Ego Chainsaw, it's electric and badass...but I only got it because I have the leaf blower and the weedwacker and already have the batteries. If I had to do some big boy downed trees I would visit my local Stihl dealer, or find an older Stihl and get it refurbed

Little jobs electric might work better. I don’t know…electric chainsaw is like squatting to pee…just don’t seem right…

I get a lot of enjoyment watching people clean up after Texas storms with one of those little things.

My wife has a little baby electric chainsaw. Works ok for cutting small limbs and such. I noticed she uses my sawzall for that more often though.

I just worry about the battery life. How long does it last and how much can you cut? The power company line workers are carrying stihl electrics here…

one i have is a stihl 028av
it spits gas out of the carb and leaks and never idles
they are pretty expensive used on ebay, almost as much as a new ms250, is the 028 a better saw?
worth it to rebuild? thing never works well after new gaskets
people seem to really like old saws over new ones.

That’s been my experience with all Stihl shit. I switched over to Echo a few years ago for everything.

I don’t even like using a cordless sawzall. My porter cable tiger saw is a monster. Hell my big red craftsman is no joke. My cordless porter cable is a joke compared to them.

I am in a position to never have to pay for DeFault batteries. So that’s what I got. It works great as long as you have 27 batteries for it.

Shit bro that’s an easy fix….carb probably needs cleaning. Sounds like your floats stuck. For my weedeaters I usually just by a new carb…cheap as fuck on Amazon…
If you clean it you will have to adjust it. The left screw adjusts the idle and the right adjusts the fuel rate under load….

You can get aftermarket carb for that saw pretty cheap. I'd fix what I had unless it was tired out from use. I gave a 90's era Stihl to my brother that is still in working condition. Unless you ran it lean or have put a ton of hours on it it's worth fixing IMO.
