What's more dangerous. Table Saw or chain saw? I'm talking about the saw itself, not a tree landing on your head. Chain saws always scared me a bit. Since I screwed up my index finger on a chop saw, I've been weary of saws, 2 surgeries later.

Last tree I dropped actually kicked back on me and stopped an inch from my face. Never had that happen before and I don’t think it will happen again. I’m not dropping any more trees. Scared the shit out of me. Fuckin big box elder….

Stihl
Echo
Husqvarna.
I have 2 Stihls, both gas. Easiest starting chainsaws ever. 14” blade seems perfect for cutting downed stuff.
I have a huge Pioneer with 20” blade I’d love to sell, that’s a lumberjack saw.

Heh, there’s the planned drop and the actual drop, not always the same. A walnut that should have fallen away from the building 10ft away went the opposite way when the wind kicked up…that’s when I called a pro.

Can’t find ethanol free gas around here.
If there is a boat launch or station anywhere near you they may sell marine gas there, but the harder it is to find the more it will cost.
It’s everywhere down here on the gulf

Yeah, I’ll have to check. There are marinas up north a bit.

I know more people who have been hurt by table saws than chain saws for sure, and I know a shit ton of tree guys.
The trees are the dangerous thing about chainsaws

I know two different guys who cut all 4 fingers off one of their hands on table saws. I also know a few people who fucked themselves up with a chainsaw though.

I know people who have f*cked themselves to high heaven with a Welsh Corgi. Respect your tools/pets.

Well in my experience you don't last 25 years in a business that largely involves you being 15 to 60 feet in the air on 12" pickboards without falling, ever, if you don't respect your equipment. And know how to use it. And not do stupid shit.
My current job isn't inherently safe either.

So I agree.

I've been buying that TruFuel 40:1 but shit is expensive. I like the marine gas pump idea. And yeah Floyd my Homelite 14 has been rock solid. No issues. But that damn Poulan POS.

‘Eh, I’d call it about even. A table saw is unlikely to cut off anything above your elbow.
A chainsaw that jumps out of its intended position can rip whatever it touches first.
I worked on a demolition crew after one of the hurricanes mauled us and one of the guys was getting into a lift bucket with a running commercial saw that had a tight clutch on it and it bumped the gate and jumped over and hit him in the thigh and went all the way to his femur and blood was shooting out his leg like a water hose. The idiot freaked out and ran towards the trucks in a full panic so we had to tackle his ass and put a makeshift tourniquet above the wound so he didn’t bleed out in 3 minutes and transport him to the hospital.
It was his own fault, if you work around that stuff day in and day out, you tend to get less concerned with safety and do stupid shit you know you should not have done.
It’s really not that unlike running weapons, you follow the rules or there could be big ugly consequences for your own stupidity, and while it sux if it’s you, it sux worse if it’s someone next to you. I think I’d rather be shot than ripped open with a chainsaw…

Remember with a table saw you can use push bars and such to keep your hands away from the blade. I have had pieces of wood kick on me before. Had one shoot out and stick in a wall.

The thing with chainsaws is that if you are using them properly, there isn’t a lot of chance for accidents. If you wear chaps, a a mask and and hold it correctly the worse case is it bucking back and getting you in the shoulder.
That is in a perfect world of course and it’s not always perfect out in the field, it I reckon most instances of being hurt by a chainsaw (and not the tree) are due to someone rushing or not being careful

Careful with those saws boys. Now here's a real idiot here, me, who reversed my hands on my chop saw lazy at the end of the day, last job, didn't feel like taking out my tablesaw out of the van. Using the saw for something it wasn't designed to do. 1st time the wood shot out and hit me in the chest. That wasn't good enough, so I decided to really screw myself up. The wood actually did this damage, not the blade.

Now when I use any saw, I have a little tinge of anxiety :D

shitballs....that sucks bro but I do the same shit. Try and rip something on my slider instead of using the table saw. They have made some new clutch that supposedly stops saw blades immediately on contact with human flesh. I don't know how they did it but I have seen videos.
