I'm sitting here trying to figure out why anybody would care about Bonjovi......

Because some people around here are stuck in the 80s ? :D

People are stuck on what they like and usually what they grew up with. Nothing wrong with that. I'm not a bon jovi fan at all, although they wrote some catchy tunes.

They were huge in the 80's, one of the few bands from back then that are still actually playing music. At least jons not a judge on American idol.

Yeah, I agree.

I came from the Megadeth, Metallica, Maiden, Priest, Dio, Purple, Zeppelin, VH camp so I hated that band in the 80's....

There were plenty of great pop bands from that era to listen to that were fantastic. They weren't one of them for me.

It's all good.

My wife drug me to a Bon Jovi concert 2 years ago. :scared: We sat up and on Sambora's side, Sambora hardly played the guitar, they had another session guitarist on Johns side doing the heavy lifting. Sambora would mostly play little fills and the lead for the song, other than that he was just dancing around for show.

The real question is, who the f*ck played that stinker of a solo on the new Bon Jovi single?

That solo alone is evidence that Sambora is still drinking pretty hard.

Thank John Shanks (producer) for that.

I think that is kind of sad. Stuck in what you (collective) listened to when you were a kid? Really? I can't fathom still only listening to the 80s stuff like a ton of people around here do. You fuck yourself pretty hard when you do that. I know the argument will be "But modern music sucks"...well they can scream that at the kids while they tell 'em to "get off of my lawn."

I'm from the 80's and suick in the 80's but I can assure you that is no reason to be into Bon Jovi, too pussyified or music for me.

My feelings on the matter :

I feel exactly the same way. I'm a product of the 80s, but never got into Bon Jovi, even though I've had to play "Livin' on a Prayer" and "Bad Name" in every band I've been in since those songs came out.

I'm admittedly mostly stuck in the 70s and 80s rock camp. The bass player in the band I'm in joked that my iPod only plays old stuff. Every once in a while a new band will hit me the right way though. My latest Amazon order ranged from A Flock of Seagulls to Soilwork's latest (killer album btw). I'm sure the order processor was thinking WTF? After clearing 2 inches of dust off the Seagulls disc of course.

I disagree that modern music sucks..death metal for example is the most technically advanced music that there is next to classical. Until something tops that, that's where I'll be stuck.

Yeah I look at the 80's like a good cheese burger with extra cheese. I love me a good cheese burger but to eat that for every meal? No way.

There is a a lot of great music from all eras including today. Why limit yourself? But to each his own..... if you want to eat a cheese burger for every meal then go right ahead.

I hate it when other musicians slag on other musicians who are obviously talented guitarists and songwriters. Which Richie is and he's a good singer as well. OK, so the music is too mainstream or pussified, or whatever term that you choose to use. That doesn't mean that they are bad musicians. It just gets on my nerves when people sit back and slam other musicians because they don't like the music that they created. I don't like a lot of stuff that lots of people around here love. But instead of slamming them because I don't like the music that they wrote. I at least try to listen and appreciate what it is they're trying to do. And the whole Desmond Child thing. People give him complete credit for those songs and it just isn't right. Why does the fact that Jon, Richie and Desmond writing the songs together diminish Richie's contribution. Which he must have contributed, or his name wouldn't be on the songs.

I like Richie. He has the ability to play for the song. His solos most always fit the song. And his solo records (although I don't care for the songs much), have some pretty tasty guitar work in it. And, his vocals are very good as well. The guy has a bunch of gold records to show for it. So why people talk about him like he is some hack is beyond me. Most people that are doing the slagging are weekend bar band warriors (not that there is anything wrong with being a weekend bar warrior). But it just seems like sour grapes to me to be talking shit about someone that has been at the very top of the industry. And the person doing the shit talking isn't even in the minor leagues. Flame on my brothers!!!!

"Deserves"...

No such thing. They have a business arrangement, so "deserves" doesn't come into play. Same with "entitled".

The business agreement is exactly what I was referring too.... :)
