Check these out! Charvel prepro HRFs in a variety of colors. You can tell by the smaller logo. These pics are from the old Charvel archives that some guy bought. What I wouldn't give to have a couple of these!

and here is a closer shot of the green ones:

The Custom Shop should do a run just like these now. I'd be in!

How was the quality back then? They were cool and looked great, but I remember Tom Anderson making a comment, back in the 90's, about how unstable some of those old Charvel necks were.

Green for the win!! ...although that full shot of the green looks photoshopped. Look at the low E by the headstock and fret board.

I love mine.

Yes, here is the explanation for that from the guy who got the archives. Look - the editing removed one of the tuners! :D :

"the guitars are hanging from wires for the photo shoot, so when I had that one extracted to get a high-res capture of the graphic, I guess we got a little aggressive on the headstock wire editing  "

Well, I look that it this way, I have two guitars now with 1981 necks on them that are rock solid. Quality was very good back then as far as I'm concerned...

Makes sense about the wire editing.

That green is so badass though. Makes me want to clone it.

Yup - I'd clone the pink and the black background ones myself. Like I said, the Custom Shop should do a limited run of these - I'd provide an '81 neck for them to clone!

If they can do a run for Music Zoo they can do one for Squid !!!

that is just sexy as fuck!

The wood behind the nut (near the head stock) kind of points to GMW...like those necks were made for Floyd nuts...

are you sure those are not pre-pro logo'd GMW's?
According to the guy who bought the Charvel archives that these pictures are from, these are Charvel prepros.

Here is another prepro:

I wonder where they all are? Maybe in some attic somewhere, untouched and still close to mint?

  I was being somewhat sarcastic because they look new ;) I also know there are some GMW's passed off as original charvels.

They were new when that picture was taken - it is from some old Charvel archives from the factory. At this point some of those guitar don't exist anymore, are used for parts or have been heavily modified. For example, the one with the pink background someone painted over with a spray can and when that paint was removed, it showed that someone sanded half of the original paint off. It has now been refinished as a green bengal.

I know for sure that the pink background and the blue background ones still exist. They've both been heavily modded. The blue background one has a super deep cutout on the treble side and it's been routed for a Floyd and a neck pickup. The pink background one now has been re-finned in a green bengal job. The others, who knows? Hopefully, like you say!
