Glad all of you weathered the storm, we go thru this all summer long in South Florida. The house that I live in was leveled during Hurricance Andrew in 93'
My Sister was in FL at that time....said it was nuts as well.
Mother Nature is a bitch sometimes.

The only reason I haven't left Homestead is because I figure it can't hit me twice or I'm just too stupid.

I got it twice in three weeks here in Vero Beach, FL in '04.
That really sucked...

I was amused when watching CNN and they said NYC was shutting down. Living in Houston and having been through my fair share of Hurricane's and Tropical Storms I knew that by the time this storm hit NJ/NYC it'd be a weak CAT 1 or TS. It was even funnier to watch the reports in NYC saying "This really isn't as bad as we were expecting"....I was dying laughing....DUH!!!

Glad y'all up in the NE made it through ok.

It's the same thing when the South gets a dusting of snow and they think it's a blizzard. But the NorEaster's are much worse up here because the Hurricane's lose their steam when they get this far North.

What a sham, the media an governor hyped this storm up as if the world would soon be over. They shut down the entire state an casino industry for a heavy rain and a fairly high tide.

Irene fucked a lot of my shit up, but the one thing I can't get back...my friggin' weekend off. Friday was spent preparing for the storm, Saturday I was holed up in my house all day and night with no power after 11:00 am trying to entertain a 5 year old, Sunday I've been cleaning up the mess, and there's still plenty left to do. Got power back on around 5:00 pm today. That led to a bunch more clean up (fridge, freezers, etc). My weekend was fucked, and then to top it off we had to cancel band practice tonight :uzi: :powpow: :codeak: :bash: . Back to work tomorrow at my shit job without my weekly group therapy session also known as band practice. I'm working next weekend so practice is jacked up for next weekend. I know I'm being a whiney bitch and I should be thankful no one got hurt and my house came through relatively unscathed. 3 weeks with no band practice

And if it had been worse and more people died the first one's to get blamed would be the government for NOT shutting the state down for a hurricane on the way. It was pretty bad in my area, we had 6 feet of water down the street from my house.

Anyone using route 1 tomorrow may want to take a detour.

yeah...the government really blew this one out of proportion :loco: :aww: :jerkit:

I did all of the NYC prep too....water, some food and even got an extended battery for my Thunderbolt (which was a whole ordeal since Best Buy closed 30min after it opened.) All batteries and flashlights were sold out everywhere, except like 50cent flashlights that were sold for $10. Anyway, I figured I wouldn't go to sleep and would just watch the news. The one thing that freaked me out was when they said to stay inside and away from windows. Like most people, I live in a small apt, and basically live right next to windows. There is no getting away from them. Since I had no supplies I figured I would just pull the shades and be done with it, until I realized I had some Uline guitar shipping boxes, which I jammed in my windows...perfect fit. Of course nothing happened by me. We had power, water and were safe. I was pretty happy with that. I alot of areas around the city are totally flooded though and that sucks. I feel for those people.

Hope all you guys up North are doing alright.
Here in North Carolina we took our licks fairly well ..
My parents lost an entire roof on their personal beach house and most all of the windows.
I think they completely lost an entire house in another beach location. Could have been worse.
Better info will be available to us tomorrow by the end of the day. Take care.

No power in RI, trees down all over, iPad battery dying, when do I leave for Cali again?

We lost power for about 24 hours. My wife called me last night just as we were leaving the Os vs Yanks game to tell me we had power.

To say this was hyped and blown out of proportion is ridiculous. Here's a pic of my street after Isabel came through in '03. You can pick out my Jeep (which is sitting directly in front of my house) - it's the one with the brake lights on. The Chesapeake Bay came up and 3 feet high into my living room.

Now I'm waiting to hear from my family back home in Vermont.

Yeah, they sure blew it out of proportion. If you're only paying attention to the communities near the beach then they didn't get it as bad as they could have. But the inland towns got smacked from flooding. There's dozens of towns still without power and some towns are still underwater.

This bank is a mile from my house.

It's so hard to look at those pics.

Did you have any flooding or damage to your house?

Sommatone Amps used to be located on this street but they moved last year. Good move on their part or they would have been wiped out.

Just some of the fun in my town..... Been out of power since Sat night , looks like we'll be out for the rest of the week to.... Luckily i have a snapper 5600 watt generator hooked up and have things running like the fridge and some lights and ect....

Tree came through the roof and missed the home owners leg by 4 inches Sunday at 12:15 am, lucky, crushed his bed and he just turned 65. Power went out 6:30 am and still without power. We were lucky enough to get a generator, trees service to cut down the 3 trees damaged and someone to get up on the roof and seal it up til it can be fixed. Broke 3 rafters and crushed the gable end. Busted up the hand rails to the basement. No one was hurt and in the middle of all that I sold my Fender Strat.

GL to all those above and below Md in the path.

Imagine driving at night and not seeing this? Damm, looks like Vermont is flooded with all it's rivers and streams.

My house survived fine. Our business is pretty fucked. We lost three service vehicles, one was new with only 3,000 miles. 2-4 feet of water in our office taking out our server along with inventory. Doesn't look like we have flood coverage either.
