ok, this is the one I really don't like. when you are doing a trade with someone, and they say your gear is only worth a certain amount and you think it is worth more, ok, but the guy keeps insisting it is only worth a certain amount, and you do the trade. then you see the guy listing your gear for hundreds more! Even though just two weeks before he insisted it was worth much less.
I suppose some of you will say this is smart trading, but I try to be fair with everyone and don't gouge people. but hey, that's just me.

-when item arrives in poor shape when it is supposed to be mint.

I agree with you on both points.

What I hate is amateur packing. Skimping on packing when dealing with high end gear.

Obscene low ballers.
People who wait until after they've won an item(Ebay) to ask key questions.

Had a Deluxe QMT Strat up couple years ago, i advertised as rare and asked more than a std USA Strat. There weren't many made and none for sale in the US that I could tell.

After a day long texting adventure, and being called a scammer because I wouldn't text him the full serial, he offers me half my asking. Says he couldn't even find that model for sale on line, but standard Strats used were that price. :gethim:

I've come to find the correct response is almost always "Fuck you, don't buy it".

I hate when people post wanting to buy "specific item". I respond that I have one to sell. They ask a bunch of questions, but meanwhile another forumite is also pinging me on the item. I give guy1 priority and advise guy2 of this (he's cool). I wait for days to hear back from guy1 and he's just fallen off the face of the earth. Never to be heard from again.

I hate The fact that I often forget power cords. So guilty of this stupid shit. Thank the maker I mostly deal with bros I know. But I bought a bunch of high end power cords for myself, not for the chumps...I mean friends I trade amps with.

Sellers who are your best friend until the funds hit their Paypal account, then they seem to forget who you are and that they have an item to ship.

People that herd to sell something they see someone else is selling on a forum.
Like "oh look that person is selling X, I better put mine up right away at a lower price"
That person is lamest.

I only sell stuff when I need to or want to get rid of it. And when I do decide to sell, I want to sell fast. Having said that, I check the listing to see what others are selling similar items for, and always try to price competitively below it. It's pretty much they way the entire global economy works.

A] Shipping gear for services and never comes back.

B] Buying something and it never shows up.

C] Trying to get a refund that never happens.

D] buying an original EVH Plexi from the 70's and a Nigerian wipes out your bank account.

Sellers who have no idea how the USED market works.

Recently made an offer for a lehle little dual on reverb. My offer was less than 15% off the asking price and was right in the middle of the sold item price range on ebay for same pedal, and on the upper end of the used price range on reverb. I was even willing to go up a bit but that was where I started.

Seller declines and in his reply calls me a low baller.

Against my better judgement I reply stating that I dont appreciate his repsonse and that he lost a possible sale by being a dick. His response was to reaffirm his position that I low balled him and proceeds to reference how much he paid for the pedal BRAND NEW as evidence.

His pedal is still listed and I wound up with a more expensive Lehle dual SGOS for the same price I offered this dbag for the lehle little dual, some people just don't fucking get it...

when you sell something as a player and they return it because they take it apart and tell you its not at cork sniffing level of player

bumping your listing for 4 months that is marked obo and not really wanting to negotiate on the price

saying you will have it professionally packed and then getting an amp wrapped in bubble wrap in one box

People that do not have their location in their profile. I see people list "local sale only" and don't even say where.
I've bought things that were local that i would not have otherwise. I doubt that these people are in the C.I.A. or the W.P.P.
I'm tired of asking "location?". At least put your state in your god damn profile!

The biggest one is not disclosing damage. If your guitar has frets lifting out of the board, you should state it.

Bumping an ad for over a year and not wanting to lower the price. At that point you're obviously higher than anyone is willing to spend.

Only trades I do involve cash....you can trade me x asking amount or negotiated amount of $ for my product for that is for sale.

People do trades because they don't want the hassle of selling and usually want to over inflate the value of what they intend to trade. In these cases I say sell it outright first then and get back to me with a cash offer. Sometimes folks take trades knowing the sale value is more than the trade value so they'll take things in trade they have no intention of using or keeping just as long as they get rid of or get something in return that they really want. Then they sell the traded items.

I personally have never did a trade myself and probably wouldn't unless I really know the person, and not just on a guitar forum.

Here is something annoying that has happened to me on this forum -

Dude posts a WTB ad.
Me: "I have one for sale" (PM sent with pic and asking price included)
Dude: "cool - can you send additional pictures?"
Me: "sure - no problem"

*In this case, it was a cabinet. So I drag the thing upstairs and outside to take better, detailed pics in the sunlight.
Me: "here are some additional pictures. It's in great condition but let me know if you need more info."

silence

A week later...
Me: "hey, just checking in to see if you're still interested in the cabinet?"

silence

Whatever. Maybe he changed his mind but a quick PM saying, "hey, thanks for the pics but I'm gonna pass." Or "I found a better deal elsewhere, thanks anyway" would have been appreciated. It's just common courtesy.

- Dealing with people who can't form a complete sentence
- People who make an offer to buy, I accept, then they make a lame excuse why they can't buy
- Shitty packaging

Putting a guitar on grass and dirt for the picture and then saying its mint or brand new.

I hate that with a passion
