Hey, they stole my Iron Cross inlay theme! Although theirs looks like it's screwed in. Weird...

This cab was a custom build for a Super Reverb.

I will own.

Body looks full thickness on the esp, not sure about the ltd.

This. I hope to god it's full thickness. I'm intrigued by all of the "Metallica ditching tubes for Axe" talk. Seems like strange timing since Hammetts sig amp is coming out this month

When did James Hetfield's guitars become ones that people want?

I just don't care for the racing stripe. Just needed that one more edit in the graphic design phase.

The only Hetfield inspired guitar I would want is an 80's, Gibson explorer in white.

Truth.

I am not a Les Paul guy....
Would take any Het explorer over this. ;)
but I would take that for a spin for sure!

Same here.
I bought an Explorer shaped guitar when I was a kid because of Hetfield. I'm glad I did because that body shape feels like it was made for me. The feel, balance, and everything about it compliments how I like to play.
I tried to gel with the LP body but I feel like I'm reaching around the body to pick where my arm just falls naturally into place when I'm holding my EXP. I haven't played his Snakebyte yet but I think that will be my next gear purchase if it feels like any other Explorer shaped guitar.

I bought a Hondo neck thru Explorer back about 1986.....and it was awesome! Had a Kahler on it....Dimarzio in the bridge..
First real guitar I had. Went back to Super strats and it was cool. Just cant dig into a Les Paul. Owned a few of them. Just cant gel.

A guy customises his Les Paul. You buy a copy of that guy's guitar from another brand including pre-made customisations. It doesn't make sense. It's not the same player, It's not the same guitar, it's not the same brand, and they're not your own individual custom modifications. What's left?

I don't care what other people spend their money on, but you seemed to need an opinion. :dunno:

His original black Iron Cross was a Gibson Les Paul. James and Gibson tried to do a Signature model of that guitar but it fell through so ESP did their version of the black Iron Cross several years ago.

This white Iron Cross was never a Gibson Les Paul that James played. It started as a ESP and is now going to be a ESP Hetfield Signature.

I personally wouldn't mind having one but have never got along with any of the Ltd.s I've owned and don't see myself paying close to $5K for the ESP version of this guitar. Think I'll pass.

Those have already been done by Gibson with the '84 Reissue they did several years ago. White Explorer, no pickguard, EMG pickups. Wasn't a Hetfield Signature but was based on Hetfields 80's explorer.

Actually saw an Edwards LP on eBay today that was what I described...sans matching white head stock...

Still think the Het looks a little better, sans cross and stripe, because of the white head stock with black machine heads, and the black pick guard... but close enough!

Symbols (mis)used by Nazi's during WWII on any piece of gear is pretty stupid. How dumb this is.

That symbol predates Nazi Germany.

I copied this from Wikipedia fwiw.........

The Iron Cross (German: Eisernes Kreuz (help·info)) is a cross symbol typically in black with a white or silver outline that originated after 1219 when the Kingdom of Jerusalem granted the Teutonic Order the right to combine the Teutonic Black Cross placed above a silver Cross of Jerusalem.[1]

The military decoration called the Iron Cross which existed in the Kingdom of Prussia, and later in the German Empire and Third Reich, was established by King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia and first awarded on the 10th of March in 1813 during the Napoleonic Wars. The recommissioned Iron Cross was also awarded during the Franco-Prussian War, World War I, and World War II. The Iron Cross was normally a military decoration only, though there were instances of it being awarded to civilians for performing military functions. Two examples of this were civilian test pilots Hanna Reitsch and Melitta Schenk Gräfin von Stauffenberg, who were awarded the Iron Cross 1st Class and 2nd Class respectively for their actions as pilots during World War II.

The Iron Cross was used as the symbol of the German Army from 1871 to March/April 1918, when it was replaced by the bar cross. The Iron Cross was reintroduced as an award in the German Army in 1939 with a Swastika added in the center during the Third Reich in World War II. In 1956, the Iron Cross resumed its German military usage, as it became the symbol of the Bundeswehr, the modern German armed forces. The traditional design is black and this design is used on armored vehicles and aircraft. A newer design in blue and silver is used as the emblem in other contexts.

Thanks for the post. I already knew most of this (except I thought it originated from the Celtic parts), hence my reference to "(mis)used". The link to WWII is still so strong with this, it still remains pretty dumb to use it. But hey, perhaps they should slap on a few Viet Cong medals or something more contemporary like from the Middle East... You get my point.
