That's what is band mate is for! (Crescent moon inlays... Islam uses crescent moon symbols...)

I like the look of the Iron Cross guitars, the black one looked better IMO

Is ESP gonna release the Hetfield FUK OFF or EET FUK Explorers anytime soon? I need to spend an extra $500 on that feature that I could easily add with a piece of tape and a sharpie... Like Hetfield did...

Wouldn't pay more than $250 for either ...

The stripe needs to be in another place.

Never been impressed with LTD.

ESP in the 80's was da Shite tho ...

I copied this from Wikipedia fwiw.........

The Iron Cross (German: Eisernes Kreuz (help·info)) is a cross symbol typically in black with a white or silver outline that originated after 1219 when the Kingdom of Jerusalem granted the Teutonic Order the right to combine the Teutonic Black Cross placed above a silver Cross of Jerusalem.[1]

The military decoration called the Iron Cross which existed in the Kingdom of Prussia, and later in the German Empire and Third Reich, was established by King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia and first awarded on the 10th of March in 1813 during the Napoleonic Wars. The recommissioned Iron Cross was also awarded during the Franco-Prussian War, World War I, and World War II. The Iron Cross was normally a military decoration only, though there were instances of it being awarded to civilians for performing military functions. Two examples of this were civilian test pilots Hanna Reitsch and Melitta Schenk Gräfin von Stauffenberg, who were awarded the Iron Cross 1st Class and 2nd Class respectively for their actions as pilots during World War II.

The Iron Cross was used as the symbol of the German Army from 1871 to March/April 1918, when it was replaced by the bar cross. The Iron Cross was reintroduced as an award in the German Army in 1939 with a Swastika added in the center during the Third Reich in World War II. In 1956, the Iron Cross resumed its German military usage, as it became the symbol of the Bundeswehr, the modern German armed forces. The traditional design is black and this design is used on armored vehicles and aircraft. A newer design in blue and silver is used as the emblem in other contexts.

Thanks for the post. I already knew most of this (except I thought it originated from the Celtic parts), hence my reference to "(mis)used". The link to WWII is still so strong with this, it still remains pretty dumb to use it. But hey, perhaps they should slap on a few Viet Cong medals or something more contemporary like from the Middle East... You get my point.

I hear ya. An iron cross to me is German unless it has a Swastika in the middle, and then it's a Nazi symbol. I guess I posted what I did partially because my ancestors on my Father's side came from the "fatherland" to the US around 1860, and I actually feel bad for many Germans that had nothing to do with that crazy Austrian's twisted campaign yet were still persecuted. I couldn't imagine having to live with that kind of lable that some peeps gave them for so many years. Yeah Hitler f'd up several symbols and some of the early Prussian colors, but dang, don't take away their beloved iron cross too for Pete's sake! ;) BTW, for the size of country it is, and for how many peeps that live there, Germany has got to be about the cleanest, most organized country in Europe. Even thier subway trains smell like potpourri lol! They beat the heck out of the way the trains smell in Rome, even though they are just as crowded.

Yeah, big difference between North and South Europa on that, haha. I just got back from Stuttgart this week. Their economy is doing really good now. And WWII is seldom an issue nowadays (only on a few occasions such when we annually honor the fallen).

Anyway, I really dig ESP and wanted a Jeff Hanneman signature until I found out about the symbols on that too. They make such fine guitars, it's hard to pass on, but out of principle I do for these models .

Totally bleh.....nothing cool or special to that guitar especially since I'm sure it's crazy money.

Symbols (mis)used by Nazi's during WWII on any piece of gear is pretty stupid. How dumb this is.

I feel the same about the use of Jap war symbols. But my family is atleast 3/4ths German, and only lost members in the Pacific theater.
