with the announcement that James is working with Fortin/Randall on a new amp, what you think will be the future of Diezel amps in James' rig? do you guys have any idea ? have you heard something? will he blend the Fortin/VH4 or is the VH4 being replaced by the Fortins to blend with the long time Triaxis setup?

Depending on what technical base Hetfield's new amp is based upon, he could easiliy get a great clean sound from a modded Randall MTS module. However, Hetfield has not yet had his personal endorsed amp, has he? A Triaxis and a VH-4 seemed to be part of the game but he has used lots and lots of other amps... and more than that: Has James Hetfield proved to have a great guitar sound within the last decade?

Most likely, he will come out with a signature model and get paid a royalty for
each amp sold. He will have the amp out front in his rack and have photo ops, but he will
keep his VH4's running in a rack behind his endorsement.

No one ever paid Het to but or play a Diezel.

I don't know man, Hetfield so far hasn't been the "show for money" type of artist. He basically uses what he endorses and if it's a signature gear he'll use the hell out of it.

Same can be said about Kirk honestly.... He blended the Randalls but he had them in his live rig every night, so it was part of his tone.

I don't think Hetfield is after the money, I really believe he's after making an impact in the gear world with providing great sounding gear.

Everyone though the Hetset EMGs would be another 81/60 combo in a different case, and it's not been the case......they Hetset do sound superior to the 81/60.

Not to me... I prefer 81s at the bridge. Just a matter of taste. Hetfield is certainly a great player. Let's see what the Fortin/Randall things will sound like. Fortin sounds great from what I heard so far and Randall have a great concept with the MTS series, esp. when modded. Great news...

Just to put this into perspective.... You do realize you're talking about Metallica right? He's not a great player. He's an average player that plays average stuff.

Oh, I AM THE TABLE!

I think the effect Hetfield had by playing Diezel amps in Metallica has already left its mark. If he does a sig amp, it most likely won't sound as good (due to the manufacturers making it). The Diezel will continue to grow as more get out there and continue to have the Metallica fans intrigue. He made a big noise for Diezel when he took it on.

oh, I'm not talking about how it'll affect Diezel amplification as a company...... I'm talking about JAmes' own rig and his diezel as part of that rig.

i am not sure if james is going to change to randall, he flirted with krank, bogner, even a modefour marshall...he has very single high gain head in his headquarters...often companies send for free..., but metallica in a live scenario is a very tight machine and is very difficult to change a single string, cause every single part of the gear is in the main sound. so if he is using vh4s from 8 years..., i dont mind if he changes to randall...maybe he will use them, but everybody will know that diezel will be in a hidden space somewhere...for sure

diezel doesnt need anybody to grow up, artist come to diezel, not diezel go to artist...its that simple.

i dont know fortin amps, but i readed that fortin will be contiune his production, and trying to clean up the face to randall...so the randall-fortin will be an affordable head to the mass...but metallica will use the real fortin...with randall logos.

but i dont mind...james bought 8 vh4 in total...so...diezel will last in metallica.

Either way I think Diezel will be doing just fine making some of the best amps around without a Hetfield sig amp. :)

This...Het will stand behind his amp and certainly will not do it for the $$$. He has been approached by EVERYONE to do a signature amp deal and has always passed. FYI...Mesa and Diezel DO NOT pay him to use their amps.

I can only assume that this is either a troll attempt or an outright joke. Hetfield is widely considered to be one of the most influential rhythm players of all time, and is also considered to have one of the tightest, fastest and consistent right hands in the business.

Ugh... I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. I guess I will take mine elsewhere :)

Cheers fellas!!

I wanna make clear I'm not saying Diezel Company will suffer if hetfield stops playing diezel amps in his main rig (as Berni stated, I know he'll have plenty of Diezel head around the studio for sure). Diezel is an amazing company that makes great amps hetfield or not.

I just opened the thread because he's a known diezle user and a lot of guys here have inside info on his rig.

Peter, do you got a saying on this? :)

Has anyone ever played a Fortin head?
The people who have won't even consider it being less quality or inferior to Diezel.
The VH4 is an AWESOME amp, but not the holy grail, there are other companies and uilders out there that build different but equally good amps, there's absolutely no reason to assume that the new Kirk/James head won't sound as good or better than the Diezel, so there's aslo no reason to assume that James/kirk won't be using them for their main tone.

AFAIK Kirk's amp is based on the Fortin Meathead....and in no way is that amp inferior to a Diezel, neither in sound nor in build quality

EDIT: sorry, didn't realise how much of a necro bump this was.

Your wrong. VH4 is the holy grail.

:D

Mike Fortin confirmed that James will not be working on a signature amp. Only Kirk will get a new Randall amp based on the Meathead which is stripped down. His new signature will only have 3 of the 6 channels in the Meathead. Kirk's tech Justin Crew confirmed that they were only using 3 channels of the Meathead on tour!

I cant stand this marketing bullshit!
Corgan changed to Randall modules, Neil Schon to excl. Blackstar...bla bla bla.

So play what you want and what you like. Who cares about the "stars" anymore?
