John Mayer playing Van Halen!

A bit sketchy.

Thought he'd nail it given all the hype about his playing. R&R should've been a walk in the park for him I'd have thought...

Master guitarist doesn't mean master bluesman. Sorry man, I hear a lot of guys say that stuff about John. He's a real good blues guitarist but an equally not good blues vocalist. Also, he's not believable as a bluesman because he's been such a chameleon. One minute he's a pop star, the next he's a "bluesman" and the next he's being Jerry Garcia.. He hasn't made many blues albums. Real blues players don't make albums of pop music and fill in for the dead.

The people saying he's a master blues player seem mostly oblivious to the actual blues scene. If anything he's blues-rock. And there are still a bunch of better singer-guitarists in that realm too. I think you should expand your horizons a little.
 
i didnt mean to rile anyone up, i would never do such a thing like that, i thought people would like watching a master bluesman rip some eddie on a frankenstrat :dunno: its better than i was expecting, not even sure Lynch could do much better than that

I’m not saying you did but those 3 just do the trick
 
I don't think he's a bad guitarist, personally. I just don't like his style. I'm sure he's great, just not my thing.

Buuuuuut... is he playing Panama through a Klon-boosted Dumble?
 
Anyone that is successful when you’re not gets people riled up. Regardless of talent level few folks on the board accomplished what they have.
