Sux to hear about your trouble....so many issues with these small time builders that I personally will never deal with any of them...
But out of curiosity, what mystic materials are used to make an after-market footswitch so it ends up costing $240?!!
And generally, what the hell is up with footswitch pricing?!!! Ever open one up?!! They're as basic as can be!!!!

John Wilder hates it when you hang-up on him while he's talking about himself.

It looks like a fairly involved pedal, but I can't say for sure. I'm not sure how difficult it is to produce one of these things. He initially was asking like $400 for them when he first started building. https://www.thegearpage.net/board/showth ... ?t=1120372

Video walk-thru of the pedal functions:

I'm going to call tomorrow. Doubt that'll produce any results, but I'll give it a shot.

there are a ton of cheap midi footswitches that will do the job...sorry to hear about the lost cash though, at least we all benefit from your experience with this guy..

PaulyPanacea had his Tech21 Midi Moose up for sale; I just snagged it a few hours ago. And yes, glad someone else will benefit from my trial & error. Unfortunate for me I had to be the dildo guinea pig to get the shaft.

I talked to Steve39Stripes a few days ago, and he said that his friend talked with John Wilder about his Marshall last week. Apparently John told his friend that he's been out gigging it to make sure it will hold-up properly. :scared:

Good luck, I only had a few contact with the guy here on RT and he seemed very arrogant and full of himself. Definitely not the kind of guy I'd buy something to.

Sorry to hear this Jerod. May have been said already but give Kyle Rhodes a call. I would think he could make something for you.

Thanks man. :) Stinks but it is what it is. I sure know how to pick 'em.

I am going "cheap" & have a Midi Moose on the way tomorrow as long as Pauly doesn't put it to me too. :D

Updated the original post with the facts of the "transaction" with Jon Wilder.

In short, don't do business with Jon.

Same old story with a different name. I don't doubt his skill/talent, but it's no excuse for his poor borderline "business" acumen. Hopefully people will steer clear of him now.

I just happened upon this thread and WOW, this seems to be an epidemic.

Personally, I have had nothing but good experiences with Jon. We spoke on the phone many times.
He did some work on my amp, which I sent to him in CA and he sent back to me in a timely fashion.

Sorry to hear of the issues that have come up lately for people.

Not to make excuses for the guy, yet as someone mentioned, he did have a baby recently.
I just can't imagine that has halted all business for months. Someone said something about Dec 2012, yikes.

I sincerely hope this all gets resolved because my experience is he has good product and does good work, YMMV.

Well, I guess it is good to know I'm not the only one to experience this with Jon.

This afternoon I shared these links (my R-T & TGP posts) with Jon via e-mail and he responded, finally.

His response was he'll have the footswitch completed in 3 weeks or he'll refund the $240.

He offered to refund the money no later than Monday (6/10) but I chose to hold out for the footswitch.

The product does look damn good and I'd love to have what I paid for rather than the money back. I hope
he comes through for me/us.

Alan (strata2628), feel free to text me at seven four zero eight three three five two six seven if you'd like to talk.

Nope. No news. He obviously has more important things going on than honor his word.

Wilder is a Douche and annoying, you'll be lucky to see ur amp/money back.

Haha! I saw your posts on the Marshall forum giving him the goods. :)

For the record, I ordered a Herbert footswitch from him. I did not send an amp his way. While $240 (the cost of the Herbert footswitch) isn't a lot of dough in the grand scheme of things, it's the principal of the matter. Integrity seems to be a lost quality these days.
FRIEDMAN will take care of you.

Can Dave make a footswitch for a diezel???!
Can he, of course ... will he is entirely different. :D

Touché

Perhaps I'll give him a call to find out

I wouldn't be so sure. The process Wilder underwent to build this product is a bit more involved than maybe Friedman's expertise goes. Wilder literally sourced Diezel's MIDI code from Peter himself and re-wrote it, then loaded it onto the chips that he sells. Maybe I don't know Friedman, but none of his work I've seen suggests his MIDI expertise goes any farther than connecting up equipment and programming settings.

With a little time and research across forums spanning Metro-Forum, Music-Electronics-Forum, Marshall Forum, and a few others, it's not difficult to conclude that Wilder was/is not a beacon of situational stability and professionalism.

Wilder says he "doesn't have time to fill the orders" (paraphrasing) he's taken from paid-in-full customers. I really doubt anybody is going to see a pedal. We'll be even luckier to see a refund.

Update on this transaction so no one else (if they do a search on Wilder) won't fall into his abyss. As of today, I still haven't received the pedal or a refund from Jon. If you value your hard-earned money, don't send it to Jon.

Here's the latest communication with Jon. Also, he has since taken down the "Wilder Amplification" facebook page. There are at least 2-3 other people looking for their pedal or a refund that I know of.

I want to believe he'll refund the $240, but at this point, though he seems contrite via e-mail, his actions don't back up his words.
