Man I hate posts like these.
Trust, I guess, is just a word these days.
Money is a hard thing to come by, I hope you get yours back.

That is so bad, dude. Sorry for your trouble. Rest assured dude will never see a dime of my cash...thanks for posting the warning.

Common theme amongst the "boutique" builders over at TGP. I think they call the business model "hit and run". I can name a few rip off artists making a living solely from that place. The only thing people seem to do is make a stink about it at TGP. Lava cables tried ripping me off badly, started a thread on TGP after dealing with those idiots for a few days who refused to give me my money back and after the thread got a few pages, I got my money back.

If a thread over there doesn't do it and you can't find recourse through Paypal, maybe try your credit card company or bank. Sad times we live in but then again, honestly, giving some random dude on the internet money isn't the greatest idea no matter how many other random online "references" they have. Oh and be prepared for an army of idiots defending the rip off artists. They always agree with the people stealing money until it happens to them.

TGP shields builders from negative transaction threads sometimes as well which makes it even more difficult to find recourse over there without your complaint being censored/deleted.

The model is pretty simple for them, all you need is a one or two popular forumites on a forum to shill for you and the people line up for business. Or a famous name that you sold a product too or did a mod for them and people get drawn in.

Once that happens you start taking in cash and can let it all fall apart and just walk away.

I may be idealistic but I don't suffer thieves. Only 8-10 people in fresno with the name. and his face is all over youtube. If i don't get anything by the 1st i think i'll collect in person. my friend and ex-co-worker flew to london to collect on an 'Bay rip-off artist. i got plenty of friends in the l.a./fresno area.

Yea, no. Trust me. Fresno isn't the kind of place you go knocking on strange doors trying to be billy badass. Aside from my personal knowledge of it, here's an idea of what I'm referring to.

Going to see Jon in-person may be your best option, but I would be careful if you're planning on taking an aggressive posture. Sending cash is risky, but I'm sure you knew that before you sent the payment? It's a civil matter, and so your only legal option is the court system.

thanks, i never intended to go aggressively. I am pretty familiar with both 1.) person-to-person interaction to resolve issues, 2.) SoCal.
I appreciate the well-thought-out response, as opposed to people on these forums who basically like to 'tell you how it is' - without any idea who they are talking to - something easy to do without the whole accountability of actual face-to-face conversation.

man that sucks - i'd much rather have the guy just say - "eff you i'm keeping your money to buy 20 cases of Busch Lite" than to make it sound like he's gonna give you your money back.

I hesitate to call the guy a p.o.s., cause let's face it, life deals us all a lot of unforeseen shit and it's sometime hard to digest it all and stay on top. But, the way he has handled this by dragging me along since February really makes me want to pull my hair out. Good thing I shave my head or I'd look pretty silly. :)

Yep, pretty sure now that John Wilder is totally just a thief. Maybe he has substance abuse issues, maybe he has some hardships, but he's just stealing. A shame. It seems he had some good ideas and the talent to pull it off, but all that is worthless if you can't look your fellow man in the face, be honest and show some respect.

i called him, no answer, but he sent me a few texts: he said it would be in the mail w/tracking info on the 1st (August). Nothing. No response. Just led me on, which is basically, re:posts above - nothing new.

Unless you're George Lynch or another big name Wilder just see's you as a mark (imo of course).

that sucks wilder did that. when I dealt with him he was prompt and went out of his way for me. but, I live close by and knew where he worked so I guess he had to be straight up? hopefully he refunds your cash or gives you the pedal you ordered. that really sucks he is blowing it so hard and bullshitting guitarists.

not sure if he's still at this but:

He is a con artist of the largest magnitude. He has been known to pawn amps he has in for repair, or simply hang on to them (and use them at his own gigs) for months on end. Wilder Amplification was NEVER a valid business - no business license, etc, he did do some work for George Lynch, but that's about the extent of his claim to fame. I don't live to far from this douchebag and his reputation is "don't touch that prick with a 10 foot pole". BTW - his current cell number is 559-341-0594
