Just bought a Herbert @ Guitar Center and was told it was new and I am trying to find out what the serial numbers indicate and where I register on Diezel's website?
I want to ensure that I get the full warranty.. because if I don't I am taking it back. Not because I don't want it. I absolutely freaking love this amp!!!
I been waiting all my life for this amp. I just want to make sure what I was told at the GC was true.

Thanks
Bryan

post in the Diezel forum and ask these questions directly of Peter Diezel. he is away from the message boards at the moment so you may have faster response emailing him.

Hey Bryan, what did you pay, if you don't mind me asking.

peterstapfer @diezelamplification.com. He has warranty and shipping records.

I would check with Peter. When I bought my 2nd herby I was going to get one from gc and I am pretty sure it was coming from georgia that was back in october, they had 2 a used one and a new one. Terry from diezel usa told me that the diezels from gc were having issues and that diezel would not honer the warranty which left me scratching my head. Long story short gc said that they and terry had a falling out and warranty would not be covered through terry at diezel usa.So my friends at gc said to look elsewhere which I did and bought my 2nd herby from chuck levins in maryland. Now gc does have a warranty that you can buy for 1-2 years and it from 200-300 bucks. I would check with Peter to be sure.

Let us know what you find out. I am not trying to scare you just trying to to let you know what I ran into.

I appreciate the info man! Not scaring me I got 30 days to return it. I emailed both Peter's the serial number so I'm sure they will let me know if I am eligible for a warranty.
They guy was also telling me it was 1 out of ___ since the serial started 001/ but after more reading I find that's not the case!

DAMN that's a sweet looking head man... I just LOVE the Herbies.

Nicely done, good luck with the warranty info.

Let us know what you think after you give 'er for a couple weeks

Interesting... I just bought a new Herbert as well and am trying to get the warranty info sorted out.

001 is the model number for Herbert. The next digits are how many have been produced.
001/1000 is the 1000th Herbert etc.

2800 plus tax 3k out the door... Just found out they were not honest with me so I am not sure if I am going to return it or demand a partial refund or ask them to give me there 2 year warranty on it.

Did you buy it at GC in Atlanta? If so, it's used. It was owned by Terry Hicks. I bought my VH4 from that same GC and I played that Herbert. GC gave me their one year warranty for free, though, since I knew it was a used amp before I bought it.

If they told you it was new when you bought it, then they lied.

Yes it was Atlanta and they told me it was new.. They did say it was purchased from the USA distributor which from reading on here was Terry Hicks for awhile.... so I am going to get some form of warranty or refund or it's going back!! I think I got a good price on it but still the principal for me is they lied!

Yeah man I would go back and Demand guitar Center give you a 2 year warranty for free or a full refund. that is a typical used price for a herbie so It's not like you couldn't just get another and not feed the corporate machine. I detest guitar center, idiots and liars abound there.

When I bought my VH4 there, I dealt with the manager who's in charge of getting all the high-end equipment and running the showcase room. He was up front with me and told me the whole back-story about Terry and the Diezels they had there. They purchased all their Diezel amps from Terry Hicks. But, they weren't purchased as new amps. They were Terry's personal amps. Terry told them he would cover them under warranty. But after he sold them he later refused to cover them. So, I told GC I wouldn't buy the VH4 if that were the case. They threw in the warranty to make me happy.

However, the warranty only goes into effect 90 days after you buy the amp. So, in my case... there are two issues with my amp and I have to wait a few more weeks before I can submit a warranty claim, which is a pain the ass.

In any event, go back to GC and chew them out. They flat out lied to you, telling you it was a new amp when it's at least a few years old and preowned.

From Peter D this morning:
"The amp with serial number
001/450 has been sent on December 12th 2005
to Anchor computers in NY."

So it is in fact not new.. lol
I am going to raise some hell! This is the second time in a week that GC has screwed me on a Herbert!!!

IMO the price was good, and herbies are reliables... I wouldn't bother. just enjoy the amp! !

but you're right, it's annoying that they lied. but it's prolly just ignorance in their case, so why did you do business with 'em ??

I was fortunate in the Herbert I bought was actually new. Just got an e-mail this morning from Peter as well. This is my 3rd Herbert and I have not had issues with any of them.
