I would check with Peter. When I bought my 2nd herby I was going to get one from gc and I am pretty sure it was coming from georgia that was back in october, they had 2 a used one and a new one. Terry from diezel usa told me that the diezels from gc were having issues and that diezel would not honer the warranty which left me scratching my head. Long story short gc said that they and terry had a falling out and warranty would not be covered through terry at diezel usa.So my friends at gc said to look elsewhere which I did and bought my 2nd herby from chuck levins in maryland. Now gc does have a warranty that you can buy for 1-2 years and it from 200-300 bucks. I would check with Peter to be sure.

Terry Hicks had a "falling out" with Guitar Center?!?!

Say it ain't so... Looks like T-Bagger can't get along with anyone.

Even the GC kids know a giant duchebag when they see it.

LOL!!! :D

first rule of thumb...NEVER buy anything from GC except strings..and thats debatable!! take it back. you have 30 days...and order one from someone who isnt gonna bone ya. and you will get the proper treatment. Nick from Axe Palace comes to mind!!

I was fortunate in the Herbert I bought was actually new. Just got an e-mail this morning from Peter as well. This is my 3rd Herbert and I have not had issues with any of them.

Awesome! Where did you buy it at?

I just talked to Mark the guy I bought it from @ GC and they are going to try and get me a 2 year warranty on it when he gets back to work Tuesady and if not I can bring it back...

Yeah, that's the guy I dealt with.

Saving $2,300 seems to be worth the hassle to me.

if you are looking to save cash, buy it used from a GOOD place to deal with...not a corporate bullshit store who cant even date code the head!!! or from a stand up forum member. lots of guys sell heads on here and for the most part know what they have and are selling. just my $.02.

Id say if you can get the waranty get it but it is a huge pain in the ass to deal with their waranty claims. Id try to get a couple hundred $$$$$ back from them and call it good!!

Would you sell me a VH4/Herbert for $2,800 and pay for any repairs (if needed) for the next two years?

I didn't think so.

Granted, it's a hassle to deal with places like GC. But, my amp's going out to Andrew's Amp Lab next week and GC is footing the bill. AND, I still only paid $2,800 for it. To me, that's worth it. Maybe if Diezel offered transferable warranty or lifetime warranty people wouldn't need to buy from places like GC.

For one, it was a pretty good clue it was used when you were paying ideal used price for it. $3K is like THE price to base the VH4 and herbert on the used market.

Second, why even bother with anything at this point? Do you have another $1500 in your pocket that if you had that 3K back that you would prefer to buy it new at 4500-4800?

If your answer to that is that you prefer an used head at the used price, then go with it. If you would have bought the same head off craigslist or Ebay you would have likely paid $3K and naturally there would be no warranty included.

But.... I wouldn't rule out rattling those guys to see if they will throw in a warranty, but if it doesn't fly I'd still be happy.

Also, I paid $3K for my Herbert from the SF GC.

 Exactly. It's still a good deal. The only issue is that they lied to him. But, now he can probably get a warranty out of it.

Get EXACTLY what you want from GC in this case, but if they balk even the slightest, I would email corportate HQ for GC and let them know who and when they lied to you.
I believe they are acting illegally and deserve to get a barbed-wire enema for doing so.

To me, this is like buying a demo car where the milage was turned back and the car spruced up to look new.

I bought my VH4 from the same guy at the same GC. He told me the same thing: "amp was bought from the US distributor. Diezel USA said they would cover it under warranty. So it's not exactly a new amp, but it's not exactly a used amp since it was owned by the distributor..."

To me, that meant "Terry Hicks unloaded his personal amps at GC." When I prodded further the manager said they were basically Terry's personal amps. I had them call Terry to double-check that he would cover them for warranty. He said no. I told GC I wouldn't buy it unless it had a warranty. So, they gave me one.

The downside is the warranty can't be used until after the return period is over, which is 90 days for a used amp.

I was about to walk out with that same Herbert, as well. But I changed my mind at the last second and went for the VH4. They also have a Schmidt there.

Nope , i wouldnt....but i wouldnt flat out lie to you about it. If GC gives you the warranty, then go for it. Get all you can out of them! If not, then its still your choice. I avoid buying anything high end from places like that just for the simple reason that no one there has a clue.

I bought both mine new for the purpose of having the lifetime warranty. Trust me...I would to have loved to save $2000.00 each on them...but that warranty is a large piece of mind to me..as i dont plan i getting rid of these amps. I use these amps live alot. and they get used hard. and believe it or not...i have only had to send it for a repair once..not due to amp or tube failure.

Just best of luck with your amp & GC. take em for what you can.

Is/was Diezel's US warranty lifetime?

if you bought it before a certain date. i have had my Herbie for 6+years...and my VH4 for 2 years. It was pre-Diezel USA.

While I agree with you for the most part, every once in a while you can get a deal at GC. I bought a used R7 Les Paul for $1400 during their Black Friday sale....

Mine does.

The lifetime warranty is a big deal for me. I think sometime in 2007-2008 was the cutoff for a lifetime warranty to the original owners of new Diezel amps.

I don't understand why people don't want to buy from GC. I don't need the monkey behind the counter to know anything more than how to over ride a price and give me a better deal. Me, as the buyer am smart enough to know what it is or isn't that I am buying. I've scored a ton of deals at GC.

I agree with this. I don't rely on anyone from GC (or any store for that matter for anything I buy) to tell me about a particular item I may want to buy. I just need them to ring up the sale. The only problem with GC is that 95% of their stuff is beat to hell and essentially used gear.

That is why I only buy mint used gear. Pretty hard to buy anything where you get to pull it out of the cardboard yourself.

I have got some great deals myself. Like my rev blue uber in mint and I mean mint condition $1700.00 with the metal faceplate. Plus I became friends with the guys who work there (managers)and they told me to look elsewhere because they were not sure what was up with diezel usa, and once they know you are a serious and that you know about gear that seems to make difference.
