Interesting Doubleneck.........have you tried a different tube in V1? I have plenty of high end bite on channel A. Workin' that chinese tube in V1 works great. Just a thought.
And, my D/D should be here tomorrow from Eric.......pumped to try that one......so it's pretty cool?? .......
It has plenty of bite but is darker than the B side. I'll try swapping tubes on the I guess it's called the SL2X and see if I can bring the brightness on the A side a bit to match the B side better.
I'm surprised Eric sold off his DLX, I love it! I like the A channel soooo much better than he T/D. Tone wise it sits right between the T/D's A channel and the BMan's A Channel, not too bright and not too dark with a little bit of dirt thrown in for good measure!
Yeah...I loved the DLX compared to the T/D. But...I liked the Twin (dual channel version of it) even more for me.
I personally think that the Dual DLX and Dual Twin are collectively better sounding than the dual T/D combined. The Dual DLX sounds more like a Fender Deluxe to me...with NO compromises. The Dual Twin sounds more like my old Fender Twin to me...with NO compromises. I personally like the clean modules being 2 of the same vs. a T/D per se.
If it were me, I'd just have a Dual Twin, Dual DLX, and Dual BMAN. Those are the best of each of them IMHO. I think the T/D sounds great...but there is just something about each of the dual Twin / DLX / BMAN that I like better.
Secondly...my BMAN has been modded to be tighter...and a bit more mid-rangey (like the GNR)...which makes it kinda a blend of a DLX, SL, and BMAN. With the VX, Twin, BMAN, and COD...I am completely covered for my clean / semi-dirty tones. The sparkle of the dual Twin module is just breathtaking. I can really get a killer "Eric Johnson" type of clean tone. That's why I end up selling it.
I always felt I had too much "overlap" in having too many modules anyways.
I am keeping the following:
Twin - sparkle..high headroom clean tone
VX - AC30 type of jangly clean and semi-dirty tones
BMAN - dark JTM45 type of clean tones...ala Matchless...and a tighter..more defined Plexi tone...Rockabilly...Eric Johnson "violin" type tone...and warm "Ty Tabor" type dirty clean tones
COD - Texas blues all the way
SLX2 - hot rodded gritty marshall tones
EG5 - my modern heavy tones
EG3/4 - modded this some too...to have a more SLX2 upper mids...and brighter on the tone cap.
They are all really unique... I really don't want to keep modules that are really not that "big of a difference" between one to the other.
