Just finished another Warmoth... Black Korina N4 Soloist.

Nick, +1 to what everyone has said, great looking guitar. And I love that you used your family signature, it's a great look. Be proud man, that was awesome!

Looks B.E.A.utiful!!!!!!!! love the fact that it has no tone knob. Did you do a push/pull vol to split the pickups?

Because some obviously have no tact, I'll try to get this thread back on track..

WTF?? :dunno:

Yes, Eric... How dare you post pictures of guitars you built in a thread Nick started about a guitar he built! Can't you see the two are unrelated and this is a shameless attemtp to steal Nick's thunder? Please have some class and start your own thread when you want to post pictures of guitars you built instead of undermining the value of someone elses thread about guitars they built, even if you use the same parts source!

:gethim:

:hys:

Seriously, Nick that is sweet!

Yah, it's hilarious. I'm sorry for carrying over a certain level of respect & professionalism from the other forums I post on. I guess I should have known better to apply the same tactics on a guitar players forum.

Sorry everyone for just trying to show a little love to Warmoth!!! If this was TGP, both Nick and I would be lynched for not using USACG :)

Hehehe. Eric, you got spanked! haha! I thought it was pretty funny. Wait a sec! Let me shut up before I get whooped too!

Back to the Korina Warmoth now! :D

Nick that is a beautiful guitar, love the fact that you used your Dad's signature for the headstock!

Eric, love that top on the hollow body!

Haha seriously, if this was on TGP, I would have been lynched for not using a Nitro finish...

I have no problems with Polyeurethane. Neither does John Suhr...

Be careful how you spank others...they might just like it! (Not that I do...oh wait...crap I'm derailing the thread again!)

Back to the aforementioned program!

Very true. I honestly like both Poly and Nitro. I have guitars with Nitro, Poly, and Tungoil. I can tell differences between all three. But they are minute differences. Probably the one I can the most is Tungoil honestly. That definitely has a different vibe vs nitro / poly. What's good about nitro though, is that you can repair it if needed....not so with poly.

But poly does hold up a lot better than nitro. But I do love my guitars...regardless of finish!

Thanks man. I'm really happy with it. I can't believe how 3-d that top is honestly. Looks like the ocean. And pictures (no matter how good) really capture the full beauty of it.

In all honesty and seriousness, you did not exhibit any intended "respect" or "professionalism" in your first post to get the "thread back on track". A simple, "can we keep the focus on the Warmoth N4 please?" would have done so, but instead you decided to open with "Because some obviously have no tact" which I think many in addition to myself interpreted as meant to be an insult. Im not sure how you claim that is respectful and/or professional.

Im sure Eric did not intend to derail the thread. We are all friends on this forum and he probably thought it made sense to share a little of his experience that is very similar to Nicks. Thats all.

Finally, contrary to your first impresssion, this forum is FULL of friendly, nice, and respectful people. The fact that you decided to introduce yourself in the manner you did is the reason we responded the way we did.

Now that thats out of the way, welcome. :D

  Eric has no taste,Bastard!!!!  Kidding Bro!!!Matt,I see you saw it as I did,but all is good, let's ask Nick.......

I don't think Nick is too worried about the thread turning into a burn-fest.

But anyway... I actually thought Korina was more yellow-ish. I guess Gibson used to stain their early Korina guitars yellow. Right? Or you stained yours brown?

Yeah...it was a tint in their stain they'd use.

Agreed with you Matt. That was my intent! I didn't mean any ill will to Nick, or mean to steal his thunder at all. I was just showing love for Warmoth since he and I have built our fair share of Warmoth guitars.

I'm probably in the range of 23-25 now :) Which about 13-15 I bought parts off of evilBay cheap to put together for fun...to sell.

Actually, there's two types of Korina. White Korina, and Black Korina. (probably from different parts of the same tree? Or just two different variations on the same tree? I dunno.)

Anyway, Korina naturally has a pale color. Gibson made all their early stuff out of white korina, and stained it with an amber tint.

According to Warmoth, White Korina is hard to come by these days, in large pieces suitable for a body. (either that, or PRS bought them all...) The striped, wild looking black korina is much more plentiful. the problem is that alot of the pieces just look plain ugly.

Tonewise, they're identical. Similar to mahogany, but with slightly more upper mid bite. In other words, perfect.

I'm going to have to commission you to build me a guitar... No, seriously. I have the skills to build one. But, I lack the time right now, plus I'd need to buy a bunch of tools that I simply don't want to buy right now.
