Who cares about science. What I've realized about cables is what would seem to yield a better tone on paper doesn't always sound "better" in reality. I have ONLY been able to tell the difference between cables by instantly A/B'ing them with a pedal switcher. I relate it to plugging into multiple EQ pedals with each having a slightly different setting. I like to have a cable with the most presence and punch. I really like Evidence audio cables for this.

Hey nevusofoa, What is your preferred Evidence audio cable?

I may be looking into buying something different than my Planet Waves.

I had a van den hul speaker cable and holy shit was the low end uncontrollable. Maybe if you have a Marshall and want more modern low end its possible it'd help but my Diezel almost became unusable from the bloat. It was a very clear sound though I'll admit but cluttered up the mixes low end very bad. Just my opinion any way. I like my Evidence audio cable when I need to plug straight into the amp. Otherwise I'm usually wireless for shows and 4 foot of cable to the head from the receiver isn't really going to matter all that much as long as it's not complete poo.

If you want to tell me your boutique cable sounds different. Fine. Don't tell me it's a "big difference" or a "huge difference" or it "blows the other cables away". You're just trying to convince yourself you didn't just over-spend on a cable.

I run my entire rig through Lava Blue Demon cable. Can't say tone has been improved or changed at all. What I have noticed is a large reduction in noise. There is a small amount that remains, but it is tolerable to the point that I no longer use a noise gate for either of my amps.

I like the Melody, been playing it for years. There was minimal difference, if any, compared to the more expensive Lyric when I ab'd them. Both sound great. The only downside is they're quite stiff when new (since they have a solid core) but become more flexible with use. I have a melody that I've used now for about 5 years and love it.
