hehe cool man, no prob.

I don't think the "mod" won't cost that much either.

Gotta agree with Ventura here all the way here. Starting with cab choice. Make sure what ever VH4 you are comparing to you are using the same cabinet, speaker and mount configuration.

Also, I researched before buying my VH4 new, having the choice of a 2006, 2007 or 2008 model. I was told nothing has changed but very minor tweaks along the years that wouldn't be enough to make a difference. This feedback included a email from Peter. I bought the 2007 and it rips!

I also purchased it with EL34's and 6L6's tubes that were matched to the bias of the amp so I could switch back and forth from EL34's and 6L6's without re-biasing. I can say the 6L6 set up has a much better clean and still grinds. It came from the factory with EL34's. Like Ventura, I am using SED's however, and Tung Sol 12AX7's!

The 2 VH4's were played and recorded using the same guitar into the same setup, cab, mic, pre etc... Even the mic placement was identical. I grabbed a new VH4 today, it sounds unreal.

Glad you are liking it James. I love mine, it's just so versatile.

I was ther when James was A/Bing today. Major difference between the amps - with the same guitar and cab.

I wonder if the older one has 'lost' something. Ok I know there will have been some tweaks over the years, but to make that much difference? Or is it just the power stage? (6550's)

:dunno:

How does the 6550 equipped VH4 sounds James? Glad you're liking the VH4.

 Well if that rack ain't the epitome of a sonic penis extension, I don't know what is...!!

Glad you're digging your new VH4 - what are you doing with the old one? :student:

Anyway - mondo props on that rig... GAWD!!!!

Laterz,

James..great tones man!! Glad u got what u wanted! Like i said earlier...i love New Gear Day!!!

Yeah the amp is incredible in person too. I've been busy all day but have left the amp on and picked up my guitar every hour or so and slam a few riffs. I blew the head off one of my clients today, it was classic. A week out from the American Idol audition, so my studio is filled round the clock with pop and emo kids preparing for the audition. I make them sit in the control room and listen to AIC riffs before the voice lesson. lol Funny shit. Little future Kelly Clarkson's being brutalized by a VH4!!! Fukk yeah! No mercy.

Make 'em sing around the world in 30 days over a version of the shootout :D

 I'd be using the term "fukk" and "Kelly Clarkson" in a different context, ahem...

But congrats on the new head - and hey, nice tone and sound...I liked your toonage. Anything NOT done before is all good in my books. And I heard some familiarity in the first bit of the clip, then it completely changed attitude a few seconds later.

Nicely done. Turn it to '11'
:rawk:

Bahahahaha. You should actually make that part of their lesson. No offense, but it'll probably do them better than any amount of vocal coaching if their just gonna sing whiny pop songs anyway. Give' em something to whine about.. "That's tooo brutal."

Thanks James, it´s awesome

Btw, guitars can never be too loud :D
