Thanks James, it´s awesome

Btw, guitars can never be too loud :D

You knocked it out of the park with the VH4. I'm sitting at work 3 hours before I have my session just playing it. That never happens. Great amp.

I didn't mean to start and old versus new war. My original question was what tubes are best for the VH4, I don't know enough about the amp to speak either way about the subject (old vs new). Maybe the tubes were shot in the old one, I don't know. I dumped the '02 today, the guy who bought it thought it was fine. I will say the new one I kept has so much mojo it's scary. It's serial number is 0804040, it was the best one Rob at Tone Merchants said he ever heard. So I guess at the end of the day everything worked out. I was happy to sell the other one today, sitting on it was bugging me a little, a lot of bread tied up in an amp sitting in my office.

Can't play the new one for a bit I'm traveling for work right now, that's a drag.

Damn it's sexy:

I like the Ruby (chinese) el34s. Also, what year is that one you got. I think the newer models ('07s and later) sound alot better than earlier models I've played.
+1 I have Ruby High Gain BSTR's and they rule IMO

Feel like doing some tweaking today. I haven't fooled with the 6550's yet, so gonna get the VH4 out and drop them in while its out of the road case.
