Kramer Pacer - Vintage Tiger Any good?

Alot of the ESP Lynch guitars are maple too, and they kick it :thumbsup:
 
I have an '83 Pacer Deluxe that has a maple body and a JB in the bridge. Best sounding guitar I own.

I was looking into getting one of the imports and heard how great the guitar was and how horrible the kahler was.
 
Necro bump...did anyone ever buy one of these Kramer Pacer Vintage Tiger's ? How did you find it if so...was the quality ANY good at all ??? Would like to pull the trigger on one, waiting to see if any of you have done the same. Thanks.
 
I purchased one of the HoneyBurst Pacer Vintages. The neck and fretwork is top notch. Playability is that of a much more expensive guitar. For $800, you can't go wrong. I haven't put it down since it was delivered.

Sweetwater has them in stock.
 
Yes I bought one from ZZound last year and play it every day! For the money it's a great guitar and fun to play. I've gigged with it 4 times with out issues. Is it a Charvel custom or a Suhr no but build is good, after being set up with a brass block and new pickups I haven't had one issue and I bought it for the same reason you listed, didn't want to spend a ton!!!
 
I pulled the trigger from Music Zoo...it'll arrive in a few days...can't wait. Been looking to get a super strat with a humbucker in the neck without a pickguard for short money...this seems like a no brainer. I even have an OLD Pacer strat headstock neck to put on it if the heel pocket is the same dimensions, it's been re-fretted with REALLY BIG frets and looks old...also have an Original Floyd in chrome and zebra Duncan Distortion bridge and Jazz neck pickups if I don't like the original issue units. Thanks for the feedback.
 
Forgot to ask, do these come with a case or a gig bag ?

Edit: Never mind...no case or gig bag for 759.99 with free shipping...
 
Let us know how it turns out. I've been thinking of one, but I think I'll just build it. I used to own a few kramers including a neck thru, and a couple beretta's, etc,. back in the day.. Now if I were going to buy a stock guitar it would probably be a charvel for the money. Otherwise I'd just build one. It's so easy with the bolt on necks if you buy the neck and body from the same place especially like Warmoth or USA Custom Guitars or Musikraft, etc,. I'm wanting a reverse headstock Strat style guitar but no pickguard too and OFR etc,.. I'll have to find someone though to paint or buy a body already painted and then get a neck, but I really like having control over the woods, etc, routes, etc,. I'm currently building a LP Jr from PrecisionGuitarKits of Canada. Can't beat their quality if you want an LP or V or something like that. These guys rock.. They also do tele's and strats. I'm not in no way on their payroll, etc, but I love guitars! :-)

I've gone Muisikraft a couple of times recently, and Warmoth a couple times in the past...the finishing (especially a graphic) is what eats up the budget, plus I like the fact that this guitar will be ALL Kramer...neck (strat head Pacer from the Rockinger era),chrome OFR (from a Voyager), body, and Duncans. The neck was compound radius'd and fretted with HUGE Charvel import era fret wire (like a Model 1) and it plays real nice.
 
I had one of the new Pacers for over a year and it was a constant struggle. I changed the trem to a german OFR, pickups, pots, still couldn't get it to play or sound how I wanted. I finally bought a Japanese So-Cal and never looked back. Everything about the Charvel just felt and played perfect from day one. The Kramer is now a parts guitar..
 
I have an MIA Charvel So-Cal and a MIJ So-Cal already,as well as Custom Shop Learn graphic Charvel...I just wanted something different this time. I have a "Holy Grail" cream Baretta, a 1984 re-issue Baretta, and a Classic (3 single coil strat with a Floyd), so I like Kramer, Charvel, ESP, and Jackson guitars, as well as Gibsons, BC Rich, Ibanez, etc...

Which model did you have ? The Vintage or the lower priced one ?
 
On another note, I got one of these from The Music Zoo awhile a go. It's a limited run USA made '85 Kramer Baretta repro. Killer guitars for $1500:

I haven't measured mine, but I know the Pacer Classic has a smaller neck pocket. The Vintage probably does, as well. The neck on both of these models is my favorite part. The neck on the Vintage is oiled. Feels like a super models ass, and plays like butter. Kramer/Gibson supposedly is releasing this model in a few more colors in May, as well as two new Baretta models. One will have a "Diver Down-ish' paint scheme
