Lichtlaerm prometheus- any thoughts or folks whove played it?

I like mine a lot. Agree that the defeat switch is cool. But it's just an easy to love amp with lots of great sounds and relatively few bad ones. The only downside I've noticed is some cross-channel bleed when you have the volumes set really differently. But yeah it scratches the itch that I wanted the Uber Ultra to scratch but at least the 6L6 version of that amp did not scratch for me.

I need a break from engl and have been thinking about this amp. Love lichlaerm pedals. Read info here and other forums trying to decide.

Company posted they handwire. Their quality /materials i have only heard good things. Cost isn't cheap. But its competitive enough in this day/age for a second look.

Videos seem great. Features are nice. I dont need IR loader so no loss there and has DI out. Good aesthetics to me.

Besides youtube reviews or reactions to videos there is very little. I trust it has more usable gain on tap than i will likely use and tightens up to engl level. But besides the pedals. I have no sound reference. At least with friedman, ksr, mesa, engl. You have the roughest ballpark what you might be getting yourself into based on another model or enough people have played and commented online.

That being said. Anyone out there use it or own? Any/all input welcomed.
DO EET! Get the head and matching 4x12 with their new 150 Fane speakers, and report back. I have major wood for these speakers.

Resurrecting the thread. At some point will do an actual thread. Maybe some clips. Life got crazy.

Earlier in the thread I said I pulled the trigger

I have a lichtlaerm audio prometheus now.

I'm immensely impressed with this amp. Give me a few months to get over honeymoon period. But even for a new piece of gear. I don't think I've ever been this impressed or satisfied off the bat. Usually small things I write off during this period. So far not a damn thing.

No idea if there is huge interest but regardless still have the best intentions to share my experience and contribute here.

And im also curious af about the new pedal based on this amp vs this amp but that is a 2026 project im tired and tapped.

What all amps do you have to compare it too?

It’s a super badass amp. My video will be up in a couple days.
It's really something.

Direct comparison engl e670 sefe
Fender blues jr iv tweed style
Ksr orion
Mesa 3 channel dual rectifier used probably from late 2000s
Headfirst evil joe
Crab ubertone

Also have a line 6 hd147, engl e606 and a few preamp pedals for fun.
crab marcus if I'm lucky coming in the next few weeks as well.

Plus memory of some items I've sold or thoroughly tested over the years.

Plus a range of speakers and pickups to see what shines to me.

Love my Prometheus. It has such versatility in the cleans and screams body murder when pushed.

I swapped tubes and put in a quad of KT66 Gold Lions and I feel like the headroom opened up and there was a nice, warm low-mid bump over the EL34’s.

I love even more that there’s so much amp in a smaller box format so I can gig with it. Hate lugging huge 100w heads.

If the average user is like me. You miss updates.

I wrote a review in the amplifier reviews forum for this and a crab amp.

After work tomorrow. I have 2 glorious days planned to myself. If everything goes to plan. Will use some sm57s to record samples of this and crab on hesu demon, dv-77, lcfr-150, v30. Maybe a surprise guest too.

Edit: also have a carotid condesor. I'll try it but. I hadn't recorded in awhile and my evil joes were OK not up to my standards. So probably focus is just getting back to those standards.

i posted in the amp review some knock around clips in amp review section.
its all lcfr speakers and sm57s.

generally ill say
clean i did brilliant. bridge then neck alternating. normal eq about 1-2 o clock. treble down to maybe 9 o clock mids high. then bass and treble high, cut mids.
lead was a huge mix. but for the most part. presence was 1-2 o clock. resonance 230. bass 2 o clock. mids and treble i did a few things. but except scooped, i dont think i went lower than 11 or higher than 230. i decided to wing it and sort of lost track what i was doing. if i was smart i would have used a loop pedal or something. live and learn. but have a flow for crab next. then see anything else really worth sharing or if there is something someone is interested in. settings, cut vs no cut, vintage, idk. feel free to ask.

How do you pronounce the brand name? I've avoided them like the plague for that reason. Not exactly a household name lol

The movie called Prometheus was pretty good. I liked it when you started to see the first hint that David looked down upon his makers.

Which glass did you get? I want one. I'm thinking about taking a chance of kt88s. I've never played an amp with them.
