I was already well grown up but some amazing sounding live records from 1999, 2000 and 2004 are MSG Unforgiven tour live, Fu Manchu Go For It Live and Krokus, Fire and Gasoline. Perfect live/studio mixes.

The earliest live album I recall hearing was Frampton Comes Alive....... ones that made a major impression:
Unleashed in the East
Tokyo Tapes
Live Evil
One Night at Budokan
Extraterrestrial Live

All of these had a major impact on me, Pat travers : go for what u know
Rush : all the world's a stage
Kiss : alive & alive ii

Gary moore: we want moore
Skynrd: one more from the road

How could I forget about Live After Death?! Thanks for the reminder, George!!

Beast from the east is what made me a dokken fan. I never really enjoyed listening to the albums before back from the attack. Some of those songs are great, but they just sound dated and cheesy with the old production habits from the 80s.

What are the live albums that you grew up with?

Kiss - Alive 1&2
Foghat - Live
Ted Nugent - Double Live Gonxo
Farnk Marino & Mahogany Rush - Live
California Jam II
Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains the Same
Deep Purple - Made in Japan
Black Oak Arkansas - Raunch & Roll (Mostly for the Tommy Aldridge drum solo on the song "Up". I almost never listened to the other songs. LOL)
Grand Funk Railroad - Caught in the Act
George Benson - Weekend in L.A.
This list except take out BOA and George Benson and add Aerosmith Live Bootleg and Frampton Comes Alive.

My first album at 8 years old (after my grandfather made me return Dream Police because of the mannequins on the cover 😂), "Cheap Trick Live at Budakon". Still my favorite.

Listened to KISS Alive II about 90 billion times and as a kid, just looked at the cover, inner sleeve, etc. Life changing.

Iron Maiden Life After Death was my early teenage years. My friends and I in Germany just flipped out when that was released. Again, lots of staring at the cover, inner sleeve, etc.

An absolute ripper.

Easily one of the best live albums I've heard. Dude was at his shreddin' best and the crew (all legends) were on-point.
TOTALLY! Have you watched Rick Beato's interview with George Benson? His story is fascinating.

Na I haven't 'cause I limit my Rick viewing to short, infrequent bursts.
