Looks like a tall narrow cab with a wide head? Its in between his Diezel and Superbass? Anyone know what it is?

i watched both of the videos but i couldn't find a part where they did a close up near the adam. did i miss it?? i know the camera did a close up of the rest of the members though

I saw them a short while back and was back stage.
He had a Diezel VH4, Dual Recto, and a Marshall.
He has always used a recto.

No this is the current tour, he had made a change to the middle stack as of last week.

I did hear from his tech that he was talking with Peavey.
Maybe they are making a sig model for him?
Who knows

Hmm, that was interesting. I wonder what that big thing is? Didn't hear much difference in the tone though, which is a good thing

That video was great! God I love Aenima era Tool.

I've never seen him use anything except for a Triple rec, Blue face VH4, and Super Bass OR Blue face VH4, Sliver face VH4, and Super Bass. Then again, that's only every time I've seen them in the last 10 years.

If anyone is copping his tone with anything else, let me know!
Let's hear some Axe-FX Adam Jones tone clips

Dual, triple, they are still rectos LOL

Suppose so, for some reason I've always hated the triples though. I only played one like 5 or 6 years ago and it sounded like crap

I've played dozens of rectos and never found one I even remotely liked.
But for some people they record very well.

I've got tickets to both nor cal shows on the 12th and 13th..
I'm seated pretty close to the stage at the Sacto show.. I'll try to get a pic.

 Whenever they come here to Detroit I will definitely have tix

The middle amp is still the Silverface VH4 (it is off, used as backup only). The cab is a 2x15 Mesa bass cabinet. He doesn't use it. I have no clue why it's even on stage he previously just had another Mesa 4x12 there. He's just fucking with people or something might have happened to his other Mesa cab. The only amps running are the Blueface VH4 and Marshall.

If Peavey made a amp that sounds like Adam Jones that would be great.

I have not seen him use the Mesa in years. You saw it when you were there ?

Does anyone have a picture or other wise the setting of how he set up the Mesa amp ?

Some of you may find this interesting ....

fwiw, adam jones' '75 marshall super bass is stock(friedman just services it)....and it was the sole amp used on tool stuff up through aemina.
and it's still his main amp to this day. the boogie and diezel are just to add to the frey.
adam does NO channel switching whatsoever on any amps.
(a perfect circle)billy howerdel's marshalls were modded by friedman...basically with what dave calls the "naked" mod.
also no channel switching is done i do believe.
if you have the "right" sounding amp, all that you need is a volume knob, end of story!"

I really doubt he's ever gonna do anything with peavey, not knocking them
but he's not the type of guitarist that would need to give it up for any reason.
And,he uses the best amps around, why go backwards like Hammett!?!?
"buy a Randall and capture Kirks sound"
buy a Randall and we are gonna capture the Boogie tone?
Don't think so,maybe it's a new Diezel.

I remember reading a while back that he runs all 3 amps at the same time through seperate cabs because he said they each offer something that the other doesn't have. He was also saying the most of the recording they do in the studio is the same exact rig he uses live, reason being that he wants to sounds as close to the record when he's playing live. Same interview he said he uses a JB in the bridge and 59' in the neck and he never uses a clean channel, only rolls off the volume for cleans. He also said the same thing about Opiate and Undertow were all Marshall Superbass. That's all I can really remember besides some other random info

I would say after some time of reviewing the sounds I believe there is nothing but Marshall on any of the recordings Ænima and everything before it. I trust John's word on this subject as much or more than Adams at this point.
But I would also say this subject is very much like discussing how the Great Pyramid was built.

I am sure several people that have posted on this thread have spent a fair amount of time with this whole "gear question" and Tool. It is a interesting puzzle.

I see your point ..... but money is the real master of this world. We all praise it's magical powers.
