Looks like a tall narrow cab with a wide head? Its in between his Diezel and Superbass? Anyone know what it is?

He had a Diezel VH4, Dual Recto, and a Marshall.
He has always used a recto.

No this is the current tour, he had made a change to the middle stack as of last week.

I've never seen him use anything except for a Triple rec, Blue face VH4, and Super Bass OR Blue face VH4, Sliver face VH4, and Super Bass. Then again, that's only every time I've seen them in the last 10 years.
I've played dozens of rectos and never found one I even remotely liked.Motorpud":1ihqzcyt said:Suppose so, for some reason I've always hated the triples though. I only played one like 5 or 6 years ago and it sounded like crap![]()

I have not seen him use the Mesa in years. You saw it when you were there ?
Does anyone have a picture or other wise the setting of how he set up the Mesa amp ?
Some of you may find this interesting ....

fwiw, adam jones' '75 marshall super bass is stock(friedman just services it)....and it was the sole amp used on tool stuff up through aemina.
and it's still his main amp to this day. the boogie and diezel are just to add to the frey.
adam does NO channel switching whatsoever on any amps.
(a perfect circle)billy howerdel's marshalls were modded by friedman...basically with what dave calls the "naked" mod.
also no channel switching is done i do believe.
if you have the "right" sounding amp, all that you need is a volume knob, end of story!"

I remember reading a while back that he runs all 3 amps at the same time through seperate cabs because he said they each offer something that the other doesn't have. He was also saying the most of the recording they do in the studio is the same exact rig he uses live, reason being that he wants to sounds as close to the record when he's playing live. Same interview he said he uses a JB in the bridge and 59' in the neck and he never uses a clean channel, only rolls off the volume for cleans. He also said the same thing about Opiate and Undertow were all Marshall Superbass. That's all I can really remember besides some other random info![]()

but he's not the type of guitarist that would need to give it up for any reason.
And,he uses the best amps around, why go backwards like Hammett!?!?
"buy a Randall and capture Kirks sound"
buy a Randall and we are gonna capture the Boogie tone?
Don't think so,maybe it's a new Diezel.
