For the past 3+ decades, my bedroom rigs have been my live gigging tools, w/ no low volume issues. ;)

I'm with Zachman.....there's no reason to buy a small wattage amp unless you have an old school Marshall or some other type with no MV taper. I've had plenty 50-120 watt heads and other than a few Marshalls I've never had an issue playing at whisper volumes with any of them and that includes an SLO and lots of Marshalls. Right now I have a 2C+ and a JCM 800 both into a 400 watt power amp, out into 4 cabs. Quiet as hell if I want it.

W/ Non-mv amps-- I've been happy to LOAD them down and reamp through a power amp and adjust the power amp for controlling listening levels, for those times that I want power tube clipping but wish to retain my hearing and peace w/ the neighbors without tone sufferage.

Love the EVH 5153 50 watter because unlike many amps it sound great low or loud.
I play it at TV volumes and it sound incredible

YUP!

I just picked one up and have really been enjoying it!

I've used a Roland Cube for the longest time... but this is night and day.
Looking forward to taking it to the first band rehearsal of 2016!

Zachman,
I wish i had that gear for my practice rig! :D

I know the feeling well. I remember being a kid, and seeing all of Judas Priest's Marshall stacks and drooling thinking, I wish I had that. It took a LONG time. Back in 1991, I had to sell 95% of my gear to fund a child custody battle and spent the next several years being a single parent w/ primary custody, before I could endeavor to pick up where I left off, and finish the race-- so to speak.

Zachman I have nothing but love for you man. I am not even hating. I only come here once or twice a year and I just like to bullshit and get a rise out of people. You seem like a good guy. I know a lot of guys who like to collect amps and while I don't really understand it, it doesn't matter. It is how I have played most of the "high end" amps back in the day that I played (props to Thump, hmj, daver101). Let's call a truce and next time I am in Hawaii I will buy you a beer.

I should probably clarify that the Roland was only used for quiet home practicing. LOL
I have had several pro rigs and boutique amps in my stable over the years.

The Roland Cube rules. You can use it for anything. Mic it at a huge venue, and it works. Trust me, I did it, just don't use the Recto model...use the "brit stack" or whatever it is.

Never used it live, but it's a great piece of gear. It's stayed with me longer than any tube amp I've owned.

LOL... It (the cat gif) was just something I saw online and thought it, hilarious.

I have 3 cats, and would never wish harm toward or do harm to an animal.
