@NowYou'rePlayingWithPower did you catch how thick the maple cap is on the USA Viper? Gotta be like an inch thick....

Yeah, that's crazy.
Not maple, but pretty cool and different carved top on my SG Diablo.
It's one piece though, not a separate top.

She has a few (6?) ESP sigs, but the Chunpa-V with the led fretmarkers, is my fav.
LED fret markers...... 😍

Ever seen any of the new MSA pedal steels? The whole board light ups so you can see the fret lines/markers on a dark stage. 10k+ with all the extra pedals and knee levers.

Those are really neat looking. I looked at those and the Supremes both closely. Was kind of beyond my budget but very cool contouring and thicker than a regular SG if I'm not mistaken. I have the feeling those are gonna rise in value substantially over the next five years cause the run was so short. They are available now for fairly sane prices but people snap them up and then don't let them go and you don't see them on the market as much after a few years.

Yeah, this one is from the GOTM 2008 and had belonged to an unnamed guitarist from a band everyone (the hair metal crowd, at least) here loves prior to my ownership. My daughter loves it and gigs/jams with it once in a while, so it will probably just end up in her hands. It's my favorite of my SGs with my pink elite being a very close second.

Yo @JackBootedThug the super distortion-490r is a good sounding combo. Here is someone demoing it through a LP...

My bro says leave the DB in the Paul cause it does sound badass in there. These are difficult decisions. Fortunately I have a soldering iron.....

Rings and pickups installed.. Had to trim the front ring to clear neck.

The continuing saga....

Well, the top is too thick for concentric CTS pots. I should've known that but this is my first full rewire. Found that out after getting the soldering started so no refunds, doh. There are no long shaft CTS concentric stacked pots that I can find so apparently I need to use Alpha brand pots, since they offer stacked concentrics in long shafts. They claim they have a 20 percent +/- on the values. Geez. They are a mini style pot. I ordered 'em, screw it. It means I also had to order different knobs since I have the wrong knobs on order. Never mind the wrong mini switch for out of phase wiring. Ordered the right one of those too. Now I have a bunch of stuff that needs to be returned.

The other problem I ran into was the rear humbucker ring. It's too tall and puts the Lollar DB too close to the strings since the guitar has a very low action. I don't even need to have it wired to know that will be icepick city per my experiences with it in the neck position. So I ordered a second set of the same rings so I can use a front ring for the back also.
